2017-18 Wildcats of the Week

Entering its third year, the Wildcat of the Week award focuses on individual performances on the field/court/course over the past seven days. Every Monday, two student-athletes (one male and one female) will be selected and featured on the home page as this week's Wildcat of the Week.

Monday, May 21, 2018:

Female – Makayla McCarthy – Fr. – Softball:
McCarthy ended her outstanding freshman season by being named First Team D2CCA and Second Team NFCA All-East Region after earning First Team All-CACC and CACC Pitcher of the Year honors. In the CACC Tournament, McCarthy batted 4-for-14 (.286) with two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs scored. She pitched in all four games, making two starts while going 2-2. In 22 innings, she struck out 20 batters, including nine against Holy Family and seven against Post.

Male – Kendall Small – Jr. – Baseball:
Small ended the season hitting safely in 10 of his last 11 games, including multiple hits in eight of those games. That all led to his breaking the regular season NCAA era record for the Wildcats with 77 hits, moving past Cody Holliday (2009), Brandon Payne (2013), and Josh Hampton (2013) who all finished their seasons with 76 hits. In six CACC Tournament games, Small went 11-for-26 (.423) with six RBI. In three NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament games, Small went 6-for-12 (.500) with a triple, three runs, and one RBI.

Monday, April 30, 2018:

Female – Makayla McCarthy – Fr. – Softball:
McCarthy led the Wildcats in the batter's box and in the circle last week, hitting .438 with seven hits, a double, a triple, and two home runs, 10 RBI, and three runs scored. Her first collegiate career home run came in game one at Georgian Court, a two-run shot, before she hit another two-run homer in game two in Lakewood. She also went 3-0 in the circle in four appearances last week, compiling a 1.97 ERA in 21.1 innings pitched. She struck out 36 batters, including tying a season high 14 against Post on Saturday. She also struck out 10 batters each against Kutztown and Georgian Court.

Male – Kyle Leary – Jr. – Men's Lacrosse:
Leary became the program's first First Team All-CACC selection this season. The junior led the team and the CACC with 29 caused turnovers on the season, ranking sixth in the league with 46 ground balls. He also scored twice from his defensive position in 2018. He set season high's with seven ground balls against the District of Columbia and at Davis & Elkins while also setting a season high of six caused turnovers at Davis & Elkins.

Monday, April 16, 2018:

Female – Rosa'Lynn Burton – So. – Softball:
The sophomore helped lead the Wildcats to a 4-1 record last week, collecting multipl hits in four of the five games. She batted 10-for-18 (.556) with a triple and a home run, four RBI, and six runs scored. She also went 6-for-7 on the base paths last week. The week started with a 2-for-4 game with a triple against Holy Family. She went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs scored in game one against USciences. In total, she batted 6-or-8 at Dominican, going 3-for-4 in each contest. She hit a two-run homer in game one, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases, and a run scored. She ended the week by going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in the sweep of the Chargers.

Male – Max Carney – R.Jr. – Baseball:
The redshirt junior had a hit in five of the team's six games last week, with multiple hit games in four of the games. He batted 11-for-19 (.579) last week, collecting 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. The weekstarted with a 3-for-3 game with three sacrifice flies, three RBI, and three runs scored in game one at USciences. He also went 1-for-2 in the nightcap with an RBI and a run scored. The doubleheader against Chestnut Hill started with a 2-for-3 performance followed by another 2-for-3 game with three RBI and two runs scored in the nightcap. The weekend ended with Carney going 3-for-6 with a three-run homer, six RBI, and three runs scored in game two at Concordia.

Monday, April 9, 2018:

Female – Lexi Baughman – Jr. – Softball:
The junior batted 7-for-16 last week, hitting four doubles while knocking in seven and scoring four more. She batted .438 in five games, slugging .688, while reaching base in half of her 18 plate appearances. She went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI to start the week against Holy Family before going 1-for-2 in game one at Goldey-Beacom. She batted 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and two runs scored in game two against the Lightning. She finished the week by going 1-for-4 with a double in each end of the team's doubleheader at Caldwell.

Male – Brooks Ryan – R.So. – Baseball:
The sophomore batted 5-for-9 in four games last week, reaching base seven times in 11 plate appearances. He went 1-for-1 with a pinch hit single in game two against Felician before hitting 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored from the leadoff position in game one at Chestnut Hill. He finished the doubleheader by going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in game two at Chestnut Hill as well. Ryan slugged .889 for the week with a .636 on-base percentage and a .556 batting average.

Monday, March 26 2018

Female – Lashay Ross – R.So – Women's Lacrosse: 
Lashay scored six goals and added one assist to finish the day with seven points in the team's first CACC matchup of the year, defeating Post 24-12. She also collected six draw controls to go with five ground balls and a caused turnover. The Wildcats remain in CACC play with their next contest, as they head to Holy Family on Tuesday afternoon. The game will be played on the campus of Bryn Athyn College at General Ronald K. Nelson Field. Opening draw is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Male – Chuck Delagol – R.Sr. – Baseball: 
Chuck led the way on the mound in game two, as he threw a two hit shutout with a career high 11 strikeouts to secure the doubleheader victory 1-0 over cross town rival Goldey-Beacom College. The Wildcats remain in CACC play with their next contests, as they head to Jefferson for another South Division doubleheader on Wednesday. Game one of the doubleheader will be the Bill Giles Invitational First Round Game. The double dip is set for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch in Philadelphia.

Monday, March 19 2018:

Female – La'Dae Boykin – Sr. – Women's Lacrosse:
La'Dae led the Wildcats with four goals and one assist in a come from behind 13-12 victory at Converse College. In the Wildcat's next non-conference game against Queens College La'Dae led the Cats with two assists in an 18-9 loss. The Wildcats return to action when they open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday night. They head to Chestnut Hill to play under the lights. Opening draw is set for 7:00 p.m.

Male – Zach Rumford – R.Sr. – Baseball:
Zach threw eight strong innings allowing five hits, one run, one walk and struck out nine in the Wildcat's first CACC double-header of the year. That earned run was the first Zach had surrendered in his first 24.1 innings of work. The Wildcats head to defending NCAA Division II National Champion West Chester for their next game on Tuesday. The single, nine-inning game is slated for a 3:00 p.m. start in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Monday, March 12, 2018:

Female – Keara McCarthy – Sr. – Softball:
The senior broke out of her shell while on Spring Break, going 7-for-20 with two home runs, five RBI, and four runs scored in seven games. Started the week by going 2-for-3 with a run scored against No. 6 West Virginia Wesleyan, and hit a solo homer in game two against Notre Dame College. Batted 2-for-3 with an RBI against Cedarville before hitting a three-run homer for a 7-4 lead against No. 9 Minnesota State Mankato.

Male – Max Carney – R.Jr. – Baseball:
The junior led the Wildcats during their Spring Break trip last week, collecting 11 hits in seven games. His week started with a 3-for-5 performance against Stonehill, knocking in two with a run scored. He picked up single hits against Barry, Nova Southeastern, and at Lynn. Carney went 3-for-6 with a run scored against Adelphi before finishing the week by going 2-for-4 with a double against Southern New Hampshire. Five of his 10 RBI came at Nova Southeastern, hit a three-run homer in his 1-for-3 performance.

Monday, Feb 26 2018

Female – Macy Robinson – R.Jr. – Women's Basketball
Macy became the fifth player in Wilmington University women's basketball NCAA era to score 1,000 career points. Macy came into the contest needing 17 points to reach the milestone plateau, and quickly raced out to 14 points at the halftime break. With only one point in the third quarter, it wasn't until the first Wildcat bucket of the fourth that Macy reached her mark. She finished with 27 points on the afternoon, moving into fourth place in Wildcats history with 1,010 career points. Amelia Simmons is the all-time leading scorer with 2,267 career points.

Male – Jermaine Head – R.So. – Men's Basketball
Jermaine was just short of another triple-double on the night, as he was the leading scorer against Georgian Court with 28 points, adding nine rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Jermaine led the Wildcats with a game-high 23 points, hitting three three-pointers to go with seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals against Goldey-Beacom. As the third seed in the South Division, the Wildcats will head to the North Division's second seed Dominican. The Wildcats dropped a 72-63 decision at Dominican on February 10, but Dominican was where the Wildcats started their run to the CACC Tournament Championship in the 2014-15 season. The CACC Tournament Quarterfinals are set for Tuesday evening with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.

Monday, Feb 19 2018

Female - Rachel Hirst – Fr. – Women's Bowling
Rachel a freshman for the Wildcats, led them in five traditional matches on Saturday, bowling with a 197.6 average while the team went 3-2 overall. The team defeated Virginia State, Monmouth, and Youngstown State, while falling to Howard and Mount Aloysius. Rachel had a day's high 227 against Monmouth, earning a spot on the Second Team All-Tournament with 988 total pins and a197.6 average. She also posted scores of 225 against Mount Aloysius and 190 against Howard.

Hirst – 163-190-225-227-183 – 988 – 197.6 average. The Wildcats have one more tournament in the regular season, as they head to the Molloy College Lion Invitational next weekend. The two-day tournament will start on Saturday, February 24, at the AMF Plainview Lanes in Plainview, N.Y

Male – Jermaine Head – R.So. – Men's Basketball
Jermaine was named the CACC Rookie of the Week for his efforts against Chestnut Hill and Post. Against Chestnut Hill, Head went for 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting, adding eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals. He then went for 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds and two assists in a win against Post on Saturday. Head has already set a new single season program record for the Wildcats, dishing out 120 so far on the year. Wilmington takes to the road for the final time in the regular season with their next contest, as they head to Georgian Court on Wednesday night. They will follow the women with an approximate start time of 8:00 p.m. in Lakewood, New Jersey.

Female – Nyree Grant – Jr. – Women's Basketball
Nyree led all scorers with 26 points on 12-20 shooting, in a non-conference loss 87-84 at Salem International. Nyree also added 12 rebounds to go along with her game high 26. Against Dominican on Saturday Nyree scored a team high 21 points on 9-14 shooting. The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday night at the WU Athletics Complex, as they welcome Chestnut Hill to Newark for a CACC South Division battle. The women start the CACC doubleheader with a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.

Their first home game of the stretch is their next game, as they welcome Chestnut Hill to the WU Athletics Complex on Tuesday night. The opening tip is scheduled for approximately 8:00 p.m.

Female – Nyree Grant – Jr. – Women's Basketball

Monday, Feburary 5, 2018:

Female – Emma Matthews – R.Jr – Women's Basketball
Emma was the leading scorer for the Wildcats in both of their CACC games this week. In the first game Emma scored 14 points and added five rebounds in an 89-47 loss to #13/19 USciences on Tuesday night. On Saturday afternoon she tallied 16 points which was a team high, five rebounds to go along with five steals.The Wildcats will step out of the CACC for their final nonconference game of the year on Tuesday, as they head to Salem International in Salem, West Virginia. Opening tip is set for 6:00 p.m.

Male – Nick Richards – Sr. – Men's Basketball
Nick led all scorers against Usciences on Tuesday Night, with 22 points and added six rebounds. When they hosted Bloomfield on Saturday afternoon, Nick had a team high 23points and a game high 14 rebounds to go along with five assists and four steals. Nick still leads the CACC in scoring with an average of 21.1 points per game. The Wildcats reached their conference bye and don't return to action until next Saturday with another tough North Division opponent. The Wildcats head to Dominican on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. scheduled tip.

Monday, January 29, 2018:

Female – Nyree Grant – Jr. – Women's Basketball
Nyree averaged a double-double for the week, as she scored 19 points and led the team in rebounding pulling down 16 boards, in a 65-63 loss at the hands of Holy Family. In the second game of the week Nyree led the team in scoring with 22 points and her 10 boards was also a team high in a 86-58 loss to Felician. The Wildcats round out the month of January with a CACC South Division bout on the road on Tuesday night. They head to CACC South Division leading and nationally ranked No. 13 USciences with a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.

In the second game of the week Nick scored a game high 32 points to beat Felician and take over the number one spot in the CACC in scoring now averaging 20.9 points a game. The Wildcats will look to extend their four-game winning streak when they return to action on Tuesday at CACC South Division foe USciences. The men follow the women in the CACC doubleheader with an approximate start time of 8:00 p.m. in Philadelphia.

Monday, January 29, 2018:

Female – Nyree Grant – Jr. – Women's Basketball:
Grant led the team in scoring and rebounds, recording 12 points and nine rebounds in a loss to Jefferson. She also pulled down a team high 11 rebounds while securing her fourth double-double of the year with 14 points in an 80-76 win at Nyack on Saturday. She averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds a game last week, adding two steals and two blocked shots. The Wildcats will go for the season sweep of Holy Family in their next contest, as they head to Philadelphia to take on the Tigers on Wednesday night. The opening tip is set for 6:00 p.m.

Male – Miles Gillette – So. – Men's Basketball:
Gillette recorded his seventh and eighth double-double of the season this week, scoring over 20 points in three straight games now. In a 79-61 win over Jefferson on Tuesday, he recorded 24 points and 10 rebounds. On Saturday at Nyack, Gillette once again scored 24 points while adding 10 rebounds in an 82-66 win. He shot 48.7 percent from the floor for the week, going 9-of-18 against Jefferson and 10-of-21 at Nyack. The Wildcats will look to make it three in a row while also taking the season series form Holy Family with their next contest. They head to Philadelphia for a CACC South Division contest on Wednesday with an opening tip of 8:00 p.m.

Female - Girls "4" Partner Stunt Group - Cheerleading
The all-girl stunt group of Kristen Basquill, Maranda Moreland, MaKayla Moreland, and Ciana Perez qualified seventh overall after their entry tapes were reviewed. UCA incited 12 all-girl groups to the competition, and the Wildcats finished seventh overall at the 2018 National Championships. Two teams from West Georgia finished in the top two, while a group from Louisville finished third in the All-Girls stunt event. A review of the 2018 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship will be aired on the ESPN network of channels in the coming weeks.

Male – Jermaine Head – R.So. – Men's Basketball
Jermaine scored a team high 24 points 8-17 shooting in an 86-64 loss at the hands of Caldwell. In the second game of the week Jermaine scored 11 points and dished out 12 assists  , which is the second most in program history. It is the most in a single game in program history since Bradford Morris dished out 14 at Bloomfield on November 30, 2004. The Wildcats remain at home with their next CACC contest, as they host South Division leaders Jefferson on Tuesday night. They follow the women's game, which starts at 6:00 p.m. with an approximate start time of 8:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex

Female – Macy Robinson – R.Jr. - Women's Basketball

Macy scored a game high 29 points and added 10 rebounds as well as she helped the Wildcats edge Georgian Court 86-83. Macy scored 26 of her 29 points in the third and fourth quarters chipping in 13 in each quarter. With the 29 points and 10 rebounds Macy recorded her fifth double-double of the season. The Wildcats will go for their second win in a row when they head to Caldwell on Wednesday for a cross divisional contest. The women start the CACC doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Male – Miles Gillette – So. - Men's Basketball

Miles led the way with a game high 34 points and also chipped in a game high 14 rebounds against Georgian Court on Saturday afternoon. Miles shot 12-18 from the floor including 4-7 from beyond the arc, he also made 6 of 7 shots from the charity stripe. With the game high in points and rebounds miles has now recorded his fifth double-double of the season. The Wildcats will take their two-game winning streak to Caldwell with their next contest. They head to the North Division foe on Wednesday night, following the women on the court with an approximate time of 7:30 p.m. in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Female – Nyree Grant – Jr. Women's Basketball
Nyree recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds, the effort was trumped by the Devils however as they shot 43.6 percent from the three point line to hand the Wildcats a 76-50 loss. Nyree had her first double-double against Goldey Beacom as she posted 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Nyree and the Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday night as they head to Chestnut Hill, the opening tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Male – Jermaine Head – R.Fr. – Men's Basketball
Jermaine tallied 22 points, shooting 10-14 from the free throw line and 5-19 from the floor as the Devils downed the Wildcats 83-58. Jermaine also swiped the ball three times from the Devils on the evening. Jermaine scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half. The Wildcats will travel to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday. They will play the second game of the night as they are scheduled to tip-off at 8:00 p.m.

Female - Nyree Grant - Jr. - Women's Basketball:
The junior forward paced the Wildcats with 19 points and seven rebounds in the team's win against Holy Family on Tuesday. She shot 8-of-10 from the floor against the Tigers, scoring (what would be to that point) a new season high with 19 points. She then secured her first double-double of the season on Saturday at Goldey-Beacom, scoring a new season high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while grabbing 10 rebounds. She averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game for the week, all while shooting 16-of-24 (66.7%) from the floor. 

Male - Nick Richards - Sr. - Men's Basketball:
The senior led the Wildcats to a 2-0 CACC record last week, scoring 24 points in each game. After scoring 24 points on 7-of-16 shooting against Holy Family, Richards' 24th at Goldey-Beacom point came with 7.3 seconds left on the clock to give the Wildcats a 61-59 victory on the road. He shot 9-of-18 from the floor against the Lightning, good enough for 16-of-34 (47.1%) for the week. Richards also dished out seven assists against the Tigers, adding five rebounds, and one steal in the blowout win. on Saturday at the Lightning, he grabbed five rebounds while dishing out four assists and adding three steals. 

Monday, Dec, 4 2017

Female – Malia Stout – Fr. - Women's Bowling:
Malia finished the Wildcat Invitational ranked 13th among the 77 players. Malia bowled a game high 215 in the win against Penn State Altoona 839-533. Malia also bowled the game high 180 in the Wildcats loss to Pitt-Bradford. Malia Knocked down a total of 888 pins for an average of 177.60. The Wildcats will take the Holiday Break to prepare for their next tournament starting January 12. They will head to the Fred and Edwina Underwood Lady Bulldogs Classic hosted by Bowie State University for another three-day tournament. The Wildcats will play in the three-day tournament at the AMF Laurel Lanes in Laurel, Maryland.

Male – Miles Gillette – So. - Men's Basketball:
Miles was tied for game high in points with teammate Shawn Church, they both tallied 21 against UDC. Miles also had a team high 12 rebounds to go along with his 21 points. Miles shot 7-13, 53.8% from the floor and 1-2 from three point range. Miles is averaging 6.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 17.6 min a game. They host Holy Family at the WU Athletics Complex in the nightcap of the women and men's doubleheader. The men are set to tip-off at 8:00 p.m.

Female – Macy Robinson – R.Jr. - Women's Basketball
Macy had a team high 16 points to go along with six rebounds in a 72-56 non-conference game against Bowie State. The game versus Bowie was the last game that the Wildcats played before the holiday break. Bowie is located in Bowie, Md. and competes in the CIAA Conference. Macy averages 13.4 points a game, while averaging 33 minutes played a game. The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday, November 28 at Lincoln (Pa.). Tip-off against the Lions is set for 6:00 p.m. in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.

Male - Danny Walsh – R.Fr. - Men's Basketball:
Danny sank a game winning three pointer to take down No. 19 Shippensburg 73-71, in a Wednesday matinee before the holiday break. Danny finished with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, hitting 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc. Against West Chester Danny finished with 12 points on 4-10 shooting and 2-5 from three-point land, as well as 2-2 from the charity stripe. The Wildcats will play host to the District of Columbia on Wednesday in the final nonconference contest before getting into CACC action. The game against the Firebirds is set for 7:00 p.m.

Female – LaShyra Williams – Sr. - Women's Basketball:
LaShyra scored 16 points on 5-12 shooting knocking down one three pointer in a 74-69 come from behind loss to Clarion. She also pulled down six rebounds and dished out two assists in 32 minutes of play. LaShyra scored a game high 21 points on 7-22 shooting and making seven free throws on eight attempts in a 69-54 win over UDC. The Wildcats return home to face Bowie State tonight, tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.

Male – Shawn Church – Sr. - Men's Basketball:
Shawn hit a game winning three pointer with four seconds remaining to cap off a 17 point come from behind victory for the Wildcats as they won the game 76-75. Shawn finished the night going 6-12 from the field while hitting two three pointers as well as making 2-3 free throws for 16 points. Against Daemen Shawn scored a team high 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a 79-73 loss. Shawn knocked down five three pointers, three of which were in the second half. The Wildcats return home Wednesday afternoon as they take on nationally ranked Shippensburg. The Wednesday Matinee is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 p.m.

Female – Mandy Behiels – Fr. - Volleyball:
Mandy finished off her freshman season collecting 19 kills and 17 digs as the Wildcats pulled out a five setter against the Griffins of Chestnut Hill. The 19 kills gives her 232 total kills and a 2.19 kills per set average on the season, that total leads the team for that category. The Wildcats' 14 wins are four more than last year, while their 10-9 CACC record is three match improvement from a season ago. They end their season with an overall record of 14-18, 10-9 CACC.

Male - Nick Richards – Sr. - Men's Basketball:
Nick recorded the Wildcats first double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and collecting 15 rebounds in an 81-76 opening game loss in the CACC/ECC challenge hosted by Wilmington, losing to the New York Institute of Technology. In the team's second game of the challenge, Nick scored 16 points while dishing out nine assists just missing a back to back double-double by one assist in the Wildcats 78-67 win against LIU Post on Saturday afternoon. In the early going Nick is averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.5 steals to go along with 2.5 steals a game. The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Millersville University. The nonconference game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Female - Bailey Peters – Fr. - Womens Bowling:
Bailey led the Wildcats charge, ranking her tied for eighth overall with a 196.80 on Saturday. She tallied her first 200-game of the afternoon against Sacred Heart, against ECC foe Felician, Bailey posted a 183 in the 942-902 loss to the Falcons. Peters finished the afternoon with the best performance for the Wildcats as she bowled a 230 in a comeback win against Bethune-Cookman.  Peters finished the day with a – 198 – 171 – 202 – 183 – 230 – 984 – 196.8 avg.

Female – Eile Harris – Sr. – Volleyball:
Eile led the team against University of the Sciences on Senior Day with 12 kills on 20 attempts for a .500 attack percentage as well as leading the defense with six block assists and one solo. Against Concordia University on November 2 she led the Wildcats again in Kills with 12 on 18 attempts for a .611 attack percentage. On October 31 against cross town rival Goldey Beacom College she had five kills on eight swings without an error for an attack percentage of .625.

Male - Ryan Rucinski – Jr. – Men's Golf:
Ryan shot a 68 (-2) which allowed him to finish in second and moved him up two spots on the leaderboard. He finished with a 68-74-68 for a three round score of 210 (E). With that score Ryan finished two strokes behind Dixie States Jayce Frampton for medalist honors.  Ryan shot a 68 (-2) in first round of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate and followed it up with a 74 (+4) to finish with a 142 (+2) to put him in fourth place overall. The Wildcats wrap up their fall season at the Golf Week Division II Invite that starts today.

Female – Loran Wyrough – R.Sr. – Women's Soccer:
Loran scored the game winning goal against Jefferson University in a pivotal Central Athletic Collegiate Conference game on Tuesday, October 24. Loran found the back of the net in the 60th minute on a long ball down the left side, Loran got the ball and was behind the defense for a 1v1 with the keeper and that is all she needed as she deposited the ball into the back of the net. With that goal Loran now has 16 goals which leads the team and puts her in first place in the CACC. The Wildcat's will now take on Post University on Tuesday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m., The Wildcats are the second seed taking on the seventh seeded Post University.

Male – Mark Corrigan – Jr. – Cross Country:
Mark earned medalist honors and the women finished a program best second overall as the Wilmington University cross country teams competed at the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships on Sunday at White Clay Creek State Park. The men were up first on Sunday, and Corrigan wasted little time to announce his presence. He finished the race in 26:39.8, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the field. He is the fourth Wildcat to earn medalist honors at the CACC Championship in the program's NCAA era, joining Bill Steele (2010), Richie Mitten (2013), and Ken Fontal (2016). Corrigan and the women's team will take their talents to the 2017 NCAA East Regional Championship hosted by Daemen College at the Delaware Park Golf Course in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, November 4.

Female – Rachel Jones – Sr. – Cross Country:
Rachel helped the team with a top ten finish and also being named to the All-CACC for finishing in the top 15. Rachel led the Wildcats with a fifth place finish, crossing the line in 20:05.1, her best finish at the CACC Championships in her career. The women finished in second place for the second time in the program's history, tying the mark set by the 2011 squad. The team finished sixth overall last season. The women's team will take their talents to the 2017 NCAA East Regional Championship hosted by Daemen College at the Delaware Park Golf Course in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, November 4.

Male – Vinny Tasca – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Vinny made seven combined saves in two games that resulted in shutouts. He had four against Chestnut Hill on the road and three against Post at home last week in key CACC matchups for the Wildcats. Vinny is now tied for sixth in the CACC in saves with 59, tied for first in goals against with 14, number one in the CACC with a save percentage of .808, and first in GAA with a 0.94. The Wildcats wrap up their nonconference schedule with a matchup at Bridgeport on Tuesday. First kick is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Female – Sinoda Cook – So.  – Women's Bowling:
Sophomore Cook highlighted the Wilmington University women's bowling afternoon by spinning a perfect game as the Wildcats went 2-3 in traditional matches to wrap up the Bud Whitman Memorial on Sunday hosted by Kutztown University.

Cook (Linden, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) spun the perfect game (12 strikes, 300 pins in 10 frames) against Coppin State in her first traditional match of the day. It was her first perfect game of her bowling career and the first 300-game in program history for the Wildcats. She also bowled the second highest game in program history with a 256 against Adelphi in the next match. The Wildcats have a couple weeks off before returning to action on November 3 at the FDU Jamboree. Hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, the three-day tournament will take place in Stratford, N.J.

Male – Abdul Mansaray – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Abdul scored two goals in a huge Central Athletic Collegiate Conference matchup against Dominican College on Saturday, Oct, 7. Not only was it a CACC game it was also a Homecoming event that Wilmington University hosts every year. Abdul rose to the occasion in front of a home crowd of over 200 people at any given time throughout game. Abdul brought the crowd to its feet in the sixth minute with his first goal of the game. The game was tied in the second half until Mansaray struck again in the 71st minute which proved to be the game winner. With the two goals, Abdul is now second on the team with seven, and tied for fifth in the CACC in points with 17, which also leads the team. The Wildcats' next contest will be on the road as they travel to Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday. First kick in Philadelphia is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

Female – Andrea Ribalta – So. – Women's Tennis:
In the Wildcats' last three games Andrea went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles. In her doubles matches, she won 8-4 in a hard fought match against USciences, 8-4 against Caldwell, and 8-0 against Holy Family, all at number one doubles. In singles she won 6-0 and 6-0 against USciences at number five and 8-1 in a super set at number four against Caldwell.

Andrea is 7-5 overall and 6-3 in dual matches, going 2-3 at number four singles and 4-0 in number five singles, as well as going 2-1 in number one doubles. The Wildcats close out the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday afternoon, when they play host to the Firebirds of the University of District of Columbia.  First serve is set for 2:00 PM at Delcastle.

Male – Enrique Valverde – Fr. – Men's Golf:
Enrique found himself tied for fifth on the first day of CACC championships, posting a 73 (+2). The freshman found himself making a run at the top spot by birdieing three straight holes on the back nine. Enrique tied for the lead with a bogey on the 18, which brought him back to even par on the day, after bogeying on the par three fourth hole he finished the day with a 72 for a two day total of 145 (+3) losing the individual championship by one stroke. With the win, the Wildcats earned the CACC's automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament in May.

Until then, the Wildcats will prep for the postseason with the remaining fall and spring schedule. The Wildcats head to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., next week to compete at the Golf Rank Invitational, hosted by Nova Southeastern University at PGA National. The first round is scheduled for Monday, October 9.

Female – Rebecca Dolhansky – Jr. – Women's Soccer:
Rebecca netted the only goal in a 3-1 non-conference loss to Bridgeport on September 27, she also assisted on two goals in a 2-0 win against Caldwell in a CACC matchup on September 30. The junior tallied 4 points to raise her total for the year to 10, and with the goal and two assists she now has a total of three goals and four assists on the year. The Wildcats head to Georgian Court on Wednesday for a midweek road test before returning to the WU Athletics Complex for Wilmington's 2017 Homecoming Weekend. Their game at Georgian Court is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.

Male - Abdul Manasaray – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Abdul netted his third and fourth goals of the season to put the Cats ahead for good against Nyack College on September 23. His first goal of the game came in the 24th minute on a long ball that he chipped in. Abdul wasted no time on getting his second goal as he knocked in a rebound in the 26th minute, which proved to be the game winner. The Wildcats step outside of the CACC for their next two contests, as they take trips to Long Island for a pair of mid-week games. They first go United Soccer Coaches Nationally Ranked No. 8 LIU Post on Tuesday. The opening whistle is set for 4:00 p.m.

Female – Loran Wyrough – R.Sr. – Women's Soccer:
Loran put away four goals Saturday afternoon in a CACC matchup at Nyack College. Loran is no stranger in this feat as this is her third time doing so in her career tying a single game program record. Loran netted a hat trick in the first half including what proved to be a game winner her first of the season. She recorded goals in the 4th minute, 8th minute and again in the 20th minute to secure the first half hat trick, her next goal would be in the 69th minute and would tie the record once again. She also assisted on the fifth goal of the game giving her nine points which also tied the single game program record. With her four goals she now has a total of eight and 18 points which leads the CACC in both categories.  The Wildcats step outside the CACC for their next contest, as they head to Bridgeport on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. start.

Monday, Sept 18, 2017:

Male – Jake Puharic – Fr. – Cross Country:
Jake was the top CACC rookie to cross the line, placing 15th overall for 12 points in a time of 29:09.17 at the UD Invite #1. He has also finished in the Top 20 in all three races this year. The only other freshman to dinish ahead of Puharic on Saturday was from Division I Howard. Finished 16th at the Philly Metro with a time of 29:22.3 and a sixth place finish at the WUXC Invite with a time of 29:51.33. The Wildcats have next weekend off but return to action on September 30 when they travel south to Salisbury University for the famed Don Cathcart Invitational.

Female – Krysta Memis – Fr. – Women's Soccer:
Krysta tallied three goals in three games on the week, all three goals coming against CACC opponents. Her first goal was a game winner against Holy Family in the fifth minute then again in the 50th minute off a deflection save by the goalie. Krysta's last goal came against Bloomfield on a one time cross in the 13th minute. She is tied for fifth in the CACC with three goals on the year and eighth overall with seven points. The Wildcats have a bit of a break before their next contest, as they return home to square off against cross-town rival Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday afternoon. The match features a pair of undefeated teams in CACC play.

Monday, Sept 11, 2017:

Male – Lorne Bickley – So. -  Men's Soccer:
Lorne set a new single game record with four goals against Felician University on Sunday afternoon. He scored three of his four goals in the first half, first in the 19th minute, then the 24th minute and again in the 28th minute. He then set the single season record in the 58th minute as he beat the keeper once again for his fourth of the game. Wilmington will remain in CACC play as they head to Holy family University for their first road contest of the year on Wednesday, September 13.

Female – Rebecca Rawlinson – So. – Volleyball:
Rebecca and the Wildcats had a very successful Wildcat Invitational as they went 3-1 in the two-day event.  Rebecca was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts over the two days which included, 29 kills on 68 swings for a .324 attack percentage in four matches, she is tied for second on the team in kills with 42. To go along with her kills, she also tallied 24 total blocks (17 block assists, seven solo) over the four-game stretch and is first on the team in that category with 31. She had a weekend high of five solo blocks and four block assists against Franklin Pierce in the final match. The Wildcats will be back in action Wednesday, September 13 as they open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on the road at Jefferson University. The opening serve is set for 6:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.

Tuesday, Sept 5, 2017:

Male – Mark Corrigan – Jr. – Cross Country:
Mark finished in first place, with an 8k time of 28:22.07 in the 17th Annual WUXC Invite held on Saturday Sept. 2 at Carousel Park.  His time was 46 seconds better than the second place finisher that day. He also helped the team to a first place finish, beating Holy Family by 17 points. That was the Wildcats' first meet of the 2017-18 season. Wilmington continues their 2017 season next Saturday as they head to the famous Belmont Plateau for the Philly Metro Invite. The race is scheduled to begin at 12:15 PM.

Female – Jill Braunsberg – So. – Volleyball:
After the first four games of the year, Jill leads the team in kills with 28, digs with 45, and is second on the team in assists with 51. Jill was named to the Hoffman Memorial Invites All-Tournament Team that was hosted by Bentley University. In the tournament's first game versus Southern New Hampshire University Jill posted a hit average of .368 with eight kills, one error while adding 15 assists and six digs.  In the second game against Caldwell Jill six kills with a team high 10 assists to go along with 14 digs. In the third match of the Invite Braunsberg posted 7 kills on 20 swings for a .350 average to go along with nine assists and 12 digs. The Wildcats finished up the Tournament versus Mercy College where Jill had 17 assists, 13 digs and seven kills as the Cats picked up their first win of the 2017 season. She averaged 2.15 kills, 3.92 assists, and 3.46 digs per set for the week, posting a .288 attack percentage.
