Men’s and Women’s Athletic Teams Lead the 2018-19 Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cup Following Fall Campaigns

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Concluding the fall athletic seasons, the Wilmington University Men's and Women's fall athletic teams came out on top in the 2018-19 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cup, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.

The men's athletic teams lead the Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cup after concluding their fall seasons. The men have won the cup nine straight times, looking to claim their 10th straight at the end of the year. The women are in a good spot after claiming the fall's top spot, as they look to claim the cup for the first time in program history.

The team with the highest weighted points earns the cup for their institution after each team is evaluated for their finish in both the 2018-19 CACC regular season contests and conference tournaments. Each institution receives a combined point total and the sum is then divided by the number of sports the institution sponsors. The award is named after the late Bloomfield College Director of Athletics and Head Coach Alfred R. Restaino, Sr., who served a vital role in not just the school's athletic department but also in the formation of the CACC.

The men's athletic teams earned an average total of 13.1667 points for their three teams to finish in the top spot. With help from regular season CACC champions and CACC Tournament Runner-Up, men's soccer (14 regular season points, 13 tournament points for a 13.5 average), CACC Tournament Champions, men's cross country (14 points), and third-place CACC Tournament finishers, men's golf (12 points), the men finished with a total of 39.5 points combined.

The women's athletic teams earned an average of 11.3125 points to secure the first place spot over Georgian Court, who averaged 11.2500 points. The women's teams were helped by CACC Tournament Champions, women's tennis (13 regular season points, 14 tournament points for a 13.5 average) along with women's soccer (9.5 regular season points, 8.5 tournament points for a 9 average) and volleyball (11 regular season points, 8.5 tournament points for a 9.75 average) who earned a bid to the CACC Tournament Quarterfinals. All three teams earned a combined 45.25 points.

Post University came in second for the men's athletic teams earning a 12.0833 average for a combined 36.25 points. Georgian Court's women's teams earned a combined 33.75 points to finish below the Wildcat women.
