NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Spring All-Academic Teams have been released by Commissioner Dan Mara, as Wilmington University has 20 student-athletes make the list for their respective sports.
Baseball led all teams this spring, as seven student athletes were named to the All-Academic Team. Tyler Campbell and Rudy Gervolino earned the award for the first time in their careers, as Max Carney, Zach Frederick, Dan Hyatt, and Julian Kurych all earned it for the second time in their careers. Brad Scull is a three-time honoree for the award.
Softball's Makayla McCarthy is a first year honoree, as Annie Davila earned it for the second time in her career, while Jazmeen Llamas rounded out the team, earning it for the third time in her career.
Women's Lacrosse also has three student-athletes on the list, including first year honorees Alexis Miller and Delaney Steele, as Lisa Eller earned it for the second time throughout her career.
On the other side, men's lacrosse was represented with three more student-athletes for Wilmington University. Jamie Colligan, Jake Gies, and Dylan McCleaft all earned a spot on the All-Academic Team for the first time in their careers.
Rounding out the teams, Men's and Women's Track and Field had four student-athletes make the All-Academic list in their first season. On the men's side, Mark Corrigan, Miguel Suero, and Daniel Loyo received the honor, as Krysta Memis earned it for the women.
Across the conference, softball led all sports with 53 student-athletes, followed by baseball who had 36 student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.
Altogether, the CACC totaled 197 student-athletes to the All-Academic Teams, concluding all six championships.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
