2019-20 Wildcats of the Week

Entering its fifth year, the Wildcat of the Week award focuses on individual performances on the field/court/course over the past seven days. Every Monday, two student-athletes (one male and one female) will be selected and featured on the home page as this week's Wildcat of the Week.

Monday, August 3, 2020:

Male – Dan Hyatt – R.Sr. – Baseball:
Continuing the long line of two-way player success at Wilmington, Danny Hyatt was on a tear to start the 2020 season as the team's ace and a top the lineup. An All-Region and All-CACC performer, Hyatt struck out 23 batters in 17 innings of work in the early going of this season, throwing a complete game with 10 strikeouts (an no walks) against Gannon.  He was also leading the team with 15 hits, 11 RBI, two homers, and a .484 batting average in 12 games. He was hitting 15-for-31 with three doubles, and a triple before the season was called short. For his career, he is 13-5 on the mound (ranking 10th in wins) with 10 saves (ranking sixth all-time), 132 strikeouts, 10.48 K/9 ratio (ranks second all-time), and a 3.18 ERA. At the plate, he's been a .292 hitter with 110 hits, 21 doubles, six homers, and 66 RBI. He also ranks seventh all-time with 246 assists in the field.

Female – Rosa'Lynn Burton – Sr. – Softball:
By many accounts the best player to play at Asbury Field, the only three-time All-American in Wilmington University's NCAA era in any sport leads the program in almost every single career offensive category, despite only having three complete years under her belt. Rosa'Lynn Burton has a career .483 batting average, hitting .517 for the season as a junior. She has collected 282 career hits, shattering the previous WilmU record of 201, crossed the plate 179 times, stolen 154 bases, has 19 career triples, a career .523 on-base percentage, and a .625 career slugging percentage, all Wilmington program records. She was the 2019 CACC Player of the Year and went all year without being caught trying to steal a bag (60-for-60). This year, she was off to another fast start, hitting .485 with 16 hits and seven stolen bases. Take a 15-minute break and read her entire bio. It's impressive.

Monday, July 27, 2020:

Male – Will Rehrig – Sr. – Track & Field:
Will Rehrig was set to take part in his first season on the track with the Wildcats after completing his first season on the cross country course in the fall as a graduate student. Will earned All-CACC in the fall, finishing the CACC Championship in 13th place to help the men to another CACC title. He was also named the CACC Rookie of the Week on October 14 after finishing 11th overall at the Jack St. Clair Memorial Run on Belmont Plateau in 28:22.1. His fastest 8K time of the year came at the Don Cathcart Invitational where he ran to an 18th place finish in 26:22.73. Rehrig was the third Wildcat to finish at the NCAA DII East Regional Championship, finishing in 41st with a 10K time of 33:34.6.

Monday, July 20, 2020:

Male – Matthew Kettleson – Sr. – Golf:
Senior Matthew Kettleson capped a four-year career with the Wildcats, playing in 28 tournaments with a combined 65 rounds. He ranks 15th in program history with 103 career birdies and has the ninth lowest 54-hole total in program history with his 214 (-2) at the Hargett Memorial Invitational earlier this year. in 65 career rounds, he has a 78.69 scoring average, with a low round of 70 coming in his final round of the fall at the Hargett Memorial. Kettleson has finished with five rounds of par or better in his career, including three rounds his senior season. His best finish came as a freshman when he placed second overall at the Griffin Fall Invitational, shooting a 73 (+3) at Inniscrone Golf Club. He helped the team to win three CACC Championships during his tenure.

Female – Mikala Casimir – Sr. – Track and Field:
Senior Mikala Casimir helped bring the track and field team into fruition in 2019, combining to run the sprints and relays for the first-year program. Her fastest 100-yard meter time came at the CACC Championships where she ran a 15.14 race. Her first career 200-yard meter even came at the Greyhound Invitational, ultimately staying as her fastest time of the year at 31.57 seconds. She was also the third leg of the 4x100-meter relay team at the Rider Invitational, crossing the line in 58.39 seconds. Casimir was also a four-year member of the women's basketball team and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society for her studies.

Monday, July 6, 2020:

Male – Eddie Nevins – R.Sr. – Baseball:
Eddie Nevins' one full year on the Wildcat diamond was one for the record books in 2019, as he produced an All-American campaign. He broke the program's single season hitting record, batting .440 on the year while also scoring the most runs in broke history with 65. His 62 RBIs in 2019 are tied for second most in a single season in program history. He also set records with 43 walks, and a .548 on-base percentage. He was named the CACC Player of the Year, the unanimous East Region Player of the Year, and a First Team All-American in two of the three publications. He had 13 hits in the early going of 2020, totaling 90 for his career with a .405 batting average. He also has 70 career runs scored, nine homers, 69 RBI, and 18 doubles.

Female – Emma Kongevold – Sr. – Track & Field:
Emma Kongevold helped bring the track and field program into existence, competing in the first year of competition. She settled into the long jump and triple jumps, capping the season with a fifth place performance at the CACC Championships in the long jump, earning four points for the Wildcats with her longest jump of the year at 10.29 meters. Her best triple jump came at the 2019 Greyhound Invitational, placing 18th out of 26 with a distance of 4.77 meters. Kongevold was also the anchor leg of the fifth fastest 4x100 meter relay team on the season, running a time of 53.80 at the Delaware Open. Emma Kongevold was also a four-year member of the Wildcats' volleyball program.

Monday, June 29, 2020:

Male – Jayven Davis – Sr. – Track & Field:
Jayven Davis helped start the track and field program by competing in the sprints and jumps in its first year of existence. Davis ran the 100 and 200-meter events, was a part of the 4x100-meter relay team, and tried his hand at the high and long jumps as well. He helped the 4x100-meter relay team to three points at the CACC Championships last spring, running the third leg of a 45.00 second race. His fastest 100-meter time of the year came at the Delaware Open, racing to fifth place overall with a time of 11.83 seconds. He was also the third leg of a the 4x100-meter relay team that set a season's best of 43.67 seconds at the Delaware Open. His longest jump of the year also came in Newark, jumping a distance of 5.57 meters at the Delaware Open. Davis was also a four-year member of the cross country team.

Female – Delaney Steele – R.Jr. – Women's Lacrosse:
Delaney Steele became the first Wildcat to ever record 100 career assists, doing so in just 1.5 seasons. On her way to the CACC Rookie of the Year award last season, Steele scored 35 goals and dished out a single season record of 75 assists, nearly twice as many as the previous record. She also has a say in the top five spots for assists in a game, setting the record with 10 assists in a game twice last year. Before this season was cut short, she scored nine goals and dished out 25 assists in seven games, reaching the 100-assist mark with her final dime. Steele also set a new single game points record, collecting 13 points at Caldwell last year, scoring three goals and adding 10 assists.

Monday, June 22, 2020:

Male – Colyn Lyons – Gr. – Men's Lacrosse:
Colyn Lyons' final season was off to a great start for the 5-0 Wildcats. He was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week on March 2 in his defensive effort in a 12-11 win at Barton. He was leading the team and ranked sixth in the CACC with eight caused turnovers, picking up 12 grounds balls on the young year as well. He scored on the break in his first game as a Wildcat, had a season's best five ground balls at Barton, and a season's best three caused turnovers in a 12-11 win at Chowan. Came to Wilmington for his final season of eligibility after a career at Albany.

Female – Laura Gil – Sr. – Women's Tennis:
Laura Gil came to Wilmington from Sabinanigo, Spain, and was a part of the first recruiting class in program history. She came in and dominated right away, being named All-CACC in three of her four seasons, including Second Team All-CACC this fall as a senior. She helped the Wildcats to the 2018 CACC Tournament Championship, and was ranked seventh in the final ITA East Region Doubles rankings with Andrea Ribalta. She went 8-5 in singles play this year, including a 6-3 mark in the CACC. She was also a Second Team All-CACC selection as a freshman, and a First Team All-CACC member as a sophomore in 2017-18.

Monday, June 15, 2020:

Male – Daniel Loyo – Sr. – Track & Field:
Daniel Loyo was on the steady incline in 2019 before his season was cut short and then never had the chance to keep improving in 2020. He jumped in five meets in 2019, improving his distances each weekend. He started with a 5.29-meter long jump on March 16 and capped it with a 5.74-meter jump on April 20 at the Greyhound Invitational. He also improved his triple-jump from 11.36-meters on March 23 to 12.52-meters at the Greyhound Invitational on April 20. His only high jump attend came at the Ursinus College Invitational, reaching a height of 1.68 meters to finish sixth. He was also an all-conference performer and four-year player on the men's soccer team.

Female – Kiana Broderson-Jones – R.Sr. – Softball:
Kiana was working on her redshirt senior season in 2020 before it was cut short. Sitting permanently atop the Wildcats' lineup, Broderson-Jones' 2019 season was one for the record books. She broke the single season runs record by scoring 63 times, and hit the third most triples in a single season with six. Her 70 hits last year rank fifth all-time, and she is only one of five players in program history to hit over .400 for a season, collecting a .402 batting average in 2019. She also has 47 career stolen bases, in just a season and a half, ranking third all-time. A silky centerfielder, Kiana has four assists in her career, and has robbed countless others from hits and extra base hits. She finishes her career with a .381 batting average, a .450 on-base percentage, and a .492 slugging percentage.

Monday, June 8, 2020:

Male – Rudy Gervolino – Sr. – Baseball:
The left-handed throwing Rudy Gervolino has appeared in 42 games in four seasons for the Wildcats, making eight starts. This season, he struck out 16 batters n 11.1 innings, while also finishing the 2019 season with a 14.43 strikeout per nine inning ratio (31 K, 19.1 innings pitch). He earned his first career win as a sophomore, a 4-2 victory in game one over Philadelphia. He went 2-0 in 2019, and pitched 1.1 crucial innings against NYIT in the Regionals while picking up two strikeouts. This year, he struck out six batters a piece in two of his starts. He earned his bachelor's in business management, and is going for his MBA in Business Analytics.  

Female – Lina Boussif – Sr. – Track & Field:
Lina Boussif helped introduce the track and field program at Wilmington in 2019, running the sprints and sprint relays. She improved every time in three races over the first three meets of the year, running her best 100-meter in 14.44 seconds, her fastest 200-meter in 30.02 seconds, and was the second leg of the fastest 4x100-meter team to date all at the Danny Curan Invitational. She ran the 100-meter in 14.49 seconds in unfavorable conditions at the CACC Championships and a 30.61 second 200-meter event, second best on the team at the CACC's. She was also a two-year member of the women's soccer team for the Wildcats.

Monday, June 1, 2020:

Male – Braden McKay – Sr. – Golf:
Braden McKay is a four-year member of the golf team, helping the team to three CACC Tournament Championships and to the 2019 NCAA DII National Tournament. He is ninth all-time in program history with 89 rounds played in his career, averaging a 78.44 round score across 37 tournaments. A total of 51 rounds have counted towards the team score in his career, good enough for 15th all-time in program history. He is also ninth all-tine with 153 career birdies and tied for sixth all-time with five career eagles. As a senior, he posted an average score of 78.12 in 17 rounds, with his best round of 71 coming at the Miami Intercollegiate.

Female – Dyonne Hicks – Sr. – Track & Field:
Dyonne Hicks was the most successful and versatile Wildcat at the CACC Championships last year, earning the women 21 total points in the sprints and jump events. She recorded the fastest 100, 200, 100 hurdles, and 400 hurdles on the team last year, posting a 12.93 in the 100-meter event at the 2019 Greyhound Invitational. Her 27.20 at the Danny Curan was the fastest 200-meter time for the Wildcats last year while her fastest hurdle events both came at the Delaware Open. She jumped 5.09 meters at the CACC Championships to place fifth overall and a year's best 10.85 meters in the triple jump to take third overall. Hicks was the opening leg of the fastest 100-meter relay team for the year that ran a 51.78 at the Penn Relays.

Monday, May 18, 2020:

Male – Chad Lytle – Sr. – Men's Lacrosse:
The senior midfielder came to Wilmington from Anne Arundel Community College and was just working back into the rotation for head coach Christian Zwickert following a major injury. Lytle sat out all of last year and was finally healthy before the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19. Lytle appeared in two games this spring in a reserve role.

Female – Alyssa Velasquez – Sr. – Softball:
Quite possibly the most joyful person to every play on Asbury Field, Velasquez came to Wilmington from Indio, California as a freshman and has anchored the shortstop position from Day 1. She was on pace to set a games played and started record at Wilmington this year, and has her named scattered all throughout the program's record book. She is fourth overall with 109 runs scored, sixth with six triples, second with 69 walks, sixth with 238 assists, and in the top 10 with a .393 career on-base percentage. She has 130 career base hits, including 17 doubles, six triples, and four homers. She is a career .289 hitter with 75 RBI as well. Velasquez was named the Second Team All-CACC shortstop last year as a junior.

Monday, May 11, 2020:

Male – Andrew Henderson – Sr. – Track & Field:
Andrew Henderson helped the track and field program get off the ground in 2019, being a consistent sprinter for the Wildcats last season. He ran his fastest 100-meter race at the Delaware Open, finishing fourth in 11.67 seconds. He also finished 20th at the CACC Championships with a time of 11.70. his fastest 200-meter event also came at the Delaware Open, placing fifth overall with a time of 23.33, and finished 14th/35 at the CACC with a time of 23.35. He was a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that earned three points at the CACC Championships, running the second leg of a 45.00 second relay.

Female – Sabrina Blasi-Smith – Sr. – Women's Tennis:
The senior has been with the program from the very beginning, getting the team off the ground in the 2016-17 season. Overall, Sabrina Blasi-Smith has gone 19-27 in singles competitions, including a 7-7 mark at No. 6 singles. When teaming up, she has gone 16-27 in doubles events, including 11-17 at No. 3 doubles in her career. As a sophomore, she went 6-2 in singles play, including 4-1 in CACC play. This year, she went 3-6 in CACC play, going 4-9 in singles competitions overall.

Monday, May 4, 2020:

Male – Mike Cottrell – Sr. – Baseball:
The two-year Wildcats came over from Rowan College Burlington County (RCBC) and appeared in 19 games out of the pen. His 15 appearances last year as a junior were sixth most on the team, striking out 10 in 13.1 innings in his first year. This year, he appeared in four games, throwing 4.1 inning while striking out three batters. He threw 1.2 innings in the season opening win against Stonehill this year. He has thrown 17.2 innings in his two seasons, striking out 13 batters.

Female – Gabby Brown – Sr. – Track and Field:
Gabby Brown has been a distance runner for the Wildcats for more than just last year's track team, running cross country during her time at WilmU as well. As a spring sport athlete, Brown has kept up with the distance running, competing for the Wildcats on the track. In the CACC Championship last May, Brown finishing seventh in the 5,000 meter event, giving the team two points with her second fastest 5,000 meter race of the year in 20:39.70. She ran the program's fastest 5,000-meter race of the year at the Greyhound Invitational, finishing with a time of 20:39.07. She was also the second leg of the second fastest 4x400 meter relay team on the year, helping the team run the Colonial Relays in 4:24.03.

Monday, April 27, 2020:

Male – Arvy Shongwe – Sr. – Golf:
The two-year Wildcat has appeared in 16 tournaments since coming to Wilmington last year. He helped lead the Wildcats to the 2019 CACC Tournament Championship this fall, finishing in a WilmU career best 11th place overall. He also shot a career low 72 this year, closing out The Griffin Invitational with his even-round score in the third round. In 17 rounds this year, he had a 79.24 scoring average, sinking 31 birdies to go with one eagle. In 42 rounds in two years, Shongwe has a 79.55 scoring average as a Wildcat.

Female – Annie Davila – Sr. – Softball:
The four-year senior from California was poised to have another great season for the Wildcats, already having her name in the WilmU Softball Record Books. As a junior, she smashed the program's second most homers in a season with eight, and is now 10th all-time with 12 career home runs. She also knocked in 39 RBI last year, sixth most in single season in program history. The All-CACC and All-Region performer is a .297 career hitter with 72 career RBI, 12 doubles, a triple, 72 RBI, 39 runs scored, and 90 hits. As the main backstop for the Wildcats, she has thrown out six career would be base-stealers in her career.

Monday, April 20, 2020:

Male – Nick Robino – Sr. – Baseball:
The one-year transfer joined the Wildcats this spring and was gearing up to slide in as the closer in 2020. He appeared in five games out of the pen for the Wildcats, pitching 4.2 innings with 5 strikeouts. He struck out three batters in 1.2 inning of work against Molloy in Myrtle Beach. He earned the win against Gannon in Florida, coming in to record the final two outs of the seventh, leaving the bases loaded and the game tied. The Wildcats scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to give Robino the win. He pitched three seasons at Wagner with 15 saves before returning to his home state for his senior season.

Female – Casey Johnson – Gr. – Women's Lacrosse:
The graduate student transfer joined the Wildcats this year and was already a staple on the defensive side of the field. The first year Wildcat started in all seven games for head coach Kevin Day, leading the defenders with six caused turnovers. She also scooped up five ground balls and had one draw control. She forced two turnovers against Bloomsburg, and scooped up two ground balls at Lynn. She came to Wilmington after playing four years of basketball and two years of lacrosse at Davis & Elkins.

Monday, April 13, 2020:

Male – James Kennedy – Sr. – Men's Track & Field:
James Kennedy ran both cross country and was a member of the first-year track and field program in 2019. We will focus more on his track and field season for Wildcat of the Week. He won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2019 Delaware Open, and ran his best steeplechase time of the year at the CACC Championships with a sixth place finish in 10:18.82, giving the Wildcats three points. He also finished third out of 55 runners in the 1,500-meter event at the Ursinus College Invitational. His fasted 5,000-meter race came the Danny Curan Invite with a time of 16:17.87 and then he helped the team with three points as a part of the 4x400-meter relay group that finished sixth out of 22 teams with a program second best time of 3:30.94 at the same meet.

Female – Emily Kockott – Sr. – Women's Track & Field:
Emily Kockott ran four years of cross country and was a member of the first-year track and field program in 2019. She is a middle and long distance runner for Wildcats, helping the Wildcats at the CACC Championships las season with an eighth place finish in the 10,000-meter event, the only time she ran it all year, finishing with a time of 45:13.46. Her fastest 1,500-meter time of the year came at the Colonial Relays, running the event in 5:39.38. Kockott was the anchor leg of the 4x800-meter relay team that gave the Wildcats five points at the Rider Invitational with a time of 10:52.65 as well.

Monday, April 6, 2020:

Male – Brooks Ryan – R.Sr. – Baseball:
Brooks Ryan was third on the team with a .342 batting average in 11 games this spring before the year was postponed. He was leading the team with four stolen bases, hitting a double and a triple with seven RBI. For his career, Ryan was working on a few power categories, ranking in the Top 10 coming into this season. Now with eight career triples, he is fifth all-time in the program's NCAA era. He is also tied for sixth all-time with 12 career homers, on pace to stand second all-time if he matched his total of five from each of the past two seasons. Heading into the season, he was fifth all-time with a .506 slugging percentage. He is a .324 career hitter with 22 doubles, eight triples, 12 homers, 74 RBI and 89 runs scored. He was named Second Team All-CACC as a sophomore.

Female – Andrea Ribalta – Sr. – Women's Tennis:
Andrea Ribalta joined the Wildcats as a freshman in the program's first season in the spring of 2017. Even with missing the 2016 fall season, Ribalta collected 35 singles victories, ranking second all-time in the program's four-year history. She went 8-5 this year in singles competitions, doing most of her damage at No. 2 singles this year, going 5-2. In her career, she is 19-4 in CACC singles competitions. In doubles play, she is 13-12 in CACC contests for her career, going 24-35 overall. Prior to this year, she was a mainstay at No. 1 doubles, winning 14 matches. This year, she was called on at No. 2 doubles for the majority of her matches, going 4-6 overall. For her efforts this fall, she was named Second Team All-CACC. The Wildcats played two matches in the spring before the season was cut short.

Monday, March 30, 2020:

Male – Dalton Ziemba – Gr. – Men's Lacrosse:
Dalton helped the men's lacrosse team out to a fast 5-0 start in his first season as a Wildcat, helping by being the fourth leading scorer on the team. He scored four goals in five games, adding a team's third best five assists as well. He scored his first goal as a Wildcat in his first game, giving the Wildcats a 7-5 lead in the third quarter against Roberts Wesleyan. He dished out two assists at the District of Columbia, and then had a goal and an assist in each of the final three games before the shutdown. He put 15 of his 21 shots on the goal frame for a 71.4 shots on goal percentage, ranking second among leading scorers.

Female – Lashay Ross – R.Sr. – Women's Lacrosse:
The four-year starter already has her name all over the women's lacrosse record books, but she was continuing to work her way up the lists this year. In her career she had started in all 59 games she's appeared in, scored 165 career goals, adding 33 career assists for 198 career points. She has already blown away the career draw controls records, now with 348 for her career, adding 141 career ground balls and 65 caused turnovers. Now let's put that in perspective: 165 career goals puts her second all-time, closing in on the mark of 179 set by La'Dae Boykin; her 198 career points rank fourth all-time, trying to become the fourth player with 200 or more career points in program history; she is second all-time with her 141 career ground balls; and the person in second in career draws has 226. This year, she was third in the CACC with six assists, fifth with 19 points, sixth with 13 goals, and ninth with 17 draw controls.

Monday, March 23, 2020:

Male – Jack Dixon – Sr. – Golf:
The four-year senior golfer ranks fifth in program history with six career eagles. He had a career best three eagles as a junior, ranking as the sixth best in a single season in program history. He has appeared in 24 career tournaments, playing in 53 rounds. He finished 12th overall at the 2018 CACC Tournament, tying his career best with a 72 in the second round. Also shot a 72 in the first round of the Dennis Rose Invitational as a sophomore. He was averaging a 79 in his eight rounds as a senior.

Female – Alexis Sann – Sr. – Softball:
The softball senior played a big role in the team's 2019 CACC Tournament Championship last year, appearing in 43 games and making 19 starts at second base. She had a season high three hits in a 3-for-3 effort with a double, two RBI, and three runs scored in game two against Jefferson on April 2. She hit her lone triple of the year on April 4 against Chestnut Hill in a 2-for-3 contest. She also batted 2-for-3 in the NCAA Regionals against New Haven. She played in five of the 10 games in the 2020 season.

Monday March 9, 2020

Male - Danny Walsh – R.Jr. – Men's Basketball:
Danny Walsh ended his red shit junior season on a high note, scoring at least 18 points in his final five games. In the post season, Walsh tied his career-high 28 points against Post in the CACC Quarterfinal game against Post, going 10-15 from the floor, 6-9 from behind the three-point line, and 2-2 from the free throw line. In the Wildcats final game of the season, he put up 18 points, shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from behind the arc, combining for 46 points throughout the two games. Walsh finished the year averaging 11.2 points per game, while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor, 40.9 percent from behind the arc, and 85.2 percent from the free throw line. The 5'11' guard was selected to the CACC All-Tournament Team for his performances throughout the Tournament.

Female – Sara Miller – Fr. - Softball:
Sara Miller finished out the spring break trip down South with nine hits, including three doubles, and one triple for five RBI. The freshman went 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI against Grand Valley State, while going 2-for-4 with one double and one triple for one RBI against Tampa in game one. She finished out the week batting .281 with a slugging percentage of .438 and an on base percentage of .361 while starting in all 10 games. She also had four walks, 22 putouts, and eight assists during the week.

Monday February 24, 2020

Male – Jacob Herman – Fr. – Men's Lacrosse:
Freshman Jacob Herman had four goals and four assists throughout his first two collegiate games. Herman scored all four goals and had three assists for seven points in Wilmington's 12-11 win over Roberts Wesleyan, along with one caused turnover. He also had one assist and one ground ball in the Wildcats 15-8 win over the University of the District of Columbia to end the week. He finished with 5.00 shots per game, 2.00 goals per game, 2.00 assists per game, and 4.00 points per game, along with a .600 shot on goal percentage. He currently sits third in the league with four assists and tied for ninth in the conference with four goals.

Female – Delaney Steele – R.Jr. – Women's Lacrosse:
Red shirt junior Delaney Steele finished the week with three goals and nine assists for 12 points for the Wildcats. She scored one goal and dished out five assists in Wilmington's 17-5 win over Barton the first game of the season. She also had two goals and four assists against Millersville to end the week. Steele recorded 3.00 shots per game, 1.50 goals per game, 4.50 assists per game, and 6.00 points per game, with a .833 shot on goal percentage. After two games, she leads the CACC with nine assists and 12 points.

Monday, February 10, 2020:

Male – Isaiah Daniels-Porter – Fr. – Men's Basketball:
The freshman came off the bench on Saturday and scored 10 points at Caldwell, helping the men's team to a 75-69 victory. He went 3-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc in the game, adding one more from the foul line in the game. He also contributed three rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the win.

Female – KC Miller – Fr. – Bowling:
The freshman led the Wildcats to third place finish on Saturday, and a second place finish on Sunday at the Molloy Bowl for the Cure on February 1-2. Miller (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) dominated the Traditional matches on Saturday, winning MVP honors by finishing with the top total pinfall on the day. She finished with the second best five-match total in program history, bowling a 1,084 for a 216.80 average on the day. She was two pins away from finishing all five matches with a score of 200 or more, bowling matches of 213-236-198-212-225 on Saturday. She was named the ECC Rookie of the week for her efforts.

Male – Jordan Harding – So. – Men's Basketball:
Jordan Harding averaged 19 points per game last week for the men's basketball team, helping them to a 1-1 record. Harding started the week out scoring 23 points, going 8-14 from the floor, 6-12 from the three point line, while grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out two assists, and making two steals. In the second game of the week, he would go 5-13 from the floor, 5-10 from behind the arc for 15 points, with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals throughout 39 minutes played. He finished the week shooting 47.7 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent from behind the arc with 6.0 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game. The sophomore forward is now sixth in the CACC shooting 42.5 percent from the three point line.

Female – Jadyn Whitsitt – Jr. – Women's Basketball:
Jadyn Whitsitt would average 14.0 points per game in two games for the women's basketball team, also helping them to a 1-1 record. Whitsitt scored eight points, going 3-6 from the floor, and 2-3 from the three with two assists and two steals against No. 24 USciences to begin the week. In the second game of the week at Nyack, she would go 6-12 from the floor, 4-6 from behind the arc, and a perfect 4-4 from the line for 20 points, with nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals. She finished the week out shooting 50 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from the three point line and 100 percent from the foul line with 5.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game. The 5'9' forward is averaging 12.7 points per game this season, while shooting 38.4 percent from the floor, 33.8 percent from the three, and 72.6 percent from the free throw line.

Male – Taalib Holloman – Fr. – Men's Basketball:
The freshman guard combined for 26 points last week for the Wildcats, who went 1-1 during the week. Holloman went 2-4 for five points against Chestnut Hill while pulling down one defensive rebound. In the final game of the week, the 6'3 guard recorded a new career-high 21 points against Felician, going 7-14 from the floor, 2-6 from behind the arc, and 5-8 from the foul line with three rebounds, and five steals. Holloman has started in the last 11 contests for the Wildcats, and is averaging 6.9 points per game. He is also shooting 36.8 percent from the floor this season and 65.6 percent from the free throw line.

Female – Sabreen Muslim – Jr. – Women's Basketball:
The junior forward also had a new career-high this past weekend, as she put up 20 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the year in the Wildcats 89-59 win over Felician. Muslim went 9-12 from the floor in the contest, shooting 75 percent from the floor, while going 2-4 from the line with one block in 20 minutes of play. For the week, she averaged 12.0 points per game, shot .69 percent from the floor, and averaged seven rebounds. Throughout 16 games played, she is averaging 6.4 points per game, while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor, and grabbing 4.3 rebounds per game. Monday January 13, 2020

Male – Kameron Cooper – R.Jr. – Men's Basketball:
The red shirt junior came off the bench this past week to combine for a total of 39 points for the Wildcats. Cooper started the week off with 11 points, going 5-7 from the floor with two rebounds against the University of the District of Columbia. In the Wildcats win over Georgian Court, he went 2-5 from the floor for nine points, five rebounds, and one steal in 18 minutes of play. In the final matchup of the week against Dominican, the 6'2 guard recorded a season-high 19 points, shooting 8-12 from the floor, and 2-3 from behind the arc all while grabbing four rebounds, making four steals and one block. This season, Cooper is shooting 49.4 percent from the floor, 36.8 percent from deep, and grabbing 3.5 rebounds per game.

Female – LaShyra Williams – Gr. – Women's Basketball:
Throughout four games played, Williams is averaging 15.0 points per game for WilmU. This past week, the graduate student averaged above her 15.0 point mark, averaging 17.5 points throughout two games played. In 38 minutes played against Georgian Court, Williams scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to secure her first double-double of the season. On Saturday afternoon, the guard went off for a season-high 22 points, going 6-13 from the floor, 2-2 from behind the arc, and a perfect 8-8 from the foul line. She also pulled down six rebounds, and dished out two assists. She finished out the week shooting .92 percent from the free throw line, .38 percent from the floor, all while grabbing eight rebounds per game, and dishing out 2.5 assists per game. Throughout the four games, Williams has recorded double-digits in each contest, while shooting 54.5 percent from the three-point line, 35.3 percent from the floor, and 90.0 percent from the free throw line. She is also grabbing 7.5 rebounds in each contest, and dishing out 3.5 assists per game for the Wildcats.

Male – Jordan Harding – So. – Men's Basketball:
In 33 minutes played against Bloomfield this past weekend, Jordan Harding put up 15 points and grabbed five defensive rebounds to help the Wildcats to a cross-division win over Bloomfield. Harding connected on 6-10 from the floor, while shooting .50 percent from behind the arc, making three three-pointers. The sophomore forward also had three blocks in the contest and one assist. Harding currently sits 10th overall in the CACC shooting 39.7 percent from behind the arc, while averaging 11.4 points per game. Through 11 games he is shooting 44.3 percent from the floor, 72.7 percent from the foul line, and grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game.

Female – Kasha Andrews – R.Sr. – Women's Basketball:
Andrews combined for 27 points throughout two games played for the Wildcats last week. The redshirt senior scored 12 points and dished out five assists in the first game back from break, while grabbing four rebounds. She went 5-11 from the floor, shooting .46 percent. She then totaled 15 points, going 5-9 from the three-point line, shooting .56 percent to help Wilmington to their first win of the season over Bloomfield. The guard also made two steals and dished out two assists in 31 minutes played. Overall, she averaged 13.5 points per game, shot .43 percent from the floor, and shot .46 percent from behind the arc for the week. She also finished with 3.5 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game with only three turnovers. So far this season, she is shooting 34.3 percent from deep, 33.8 percent from the floor, and 77.8 percent from the free throw line.

Male – Lorne Bickley – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Last week Lorne Bickley capped off a record-breaking season, earning the 2019 Ron Lenz National Player of the Year, being the first Wildcat to earn the award in any program at Wilmington University. With the honor, Bickley was awarded First Team DII CCA All-America. Bickley is only the second student-athlete to receive the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year in the East Region. The award is given out to the top men's soccer student-athlete in the nation since 2006. In his first season back since 2017, the junior forward leads all Division II in goals (26) and points (54). This season he was also a three-time All-Region selection.

Male – Jermaine Head – Sr. – Men's Basketball:
Head had a game-high 27 points to help the Wildcats to their first win of the season last week over PSAC foe Kutztown. The senior guard went 8-23 from the floor, while being perfect from the free throw line, going 10-10. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists in 39 minutes played. Jermaine Head is now third all-time in program history with 1,424 career points, passing Taurean Temple (2005-08) by one point. He leads the CACC averaging 23.1 points per game, while ranking fourth in the conference in minutes played per game (36.8), steals per game (2.2), and assists per game (4.2).

Male – Jermaine Head – Sr. - Men's Basketball:
The senior guard combined for 40 points throughout two games last week for the Wildcats. In the first game of the week against Jefferson, Head put up 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals in 43 minutes played. Against Holy Family, he scored a game-high 21 points, going 7-12 from the floor and 6-7 from the free throw line, while grabbing four rebounds, and dishing out four assists and four steals. He currently sits second in the CACC, averaging 22.6 points per game, third in the league averaging 2.5 steals per game, and fourth in the conference dishing out 4.4 assists per game.

Female – Tiffany Jackson – Jr. – Women's Basketball:
Jackson averaged 12.5 points per game last week for the Wildcats. She scored 16 points against Jefferson, going 7-10 from the floor and 1-2 from the foul line, while pulling down five rebounds. The junior forward secured nine points against Holy Family, going 4-8 from the floor with six rebounds. She finished out the week averaging 5.5 boards a game and shot .611 from the floor. She currently is ranked fourth in the conference shooting 52.6 percent from the floor this season, while sitting sixth in the CACC averaging 7.9 rebounds per game.

Male – Danny Walsh – RJr. - Men's Basketball:
In 34 minutes of play, Danny Walsh put up 19 points, going 7-11 from the floor for a .636 shooting percentage against No. 10 Daemen this past weekend. The red shirt junior made four three pointers, shooting .80 percent from behind the arc in the contest, while grabbing six rebounds. Walsh also dished out three assists in the process and connected on one free throw. The 5'11 guard is shooting 48.8 percent from the floor this season and 47.6 percent from the three point line throughout five games played.

Female – Jadyn Whitsitt – Jr. – Women's Basketball:
Jadyn Whitsitt combined for 38 points throughout two games last week for the Wildcats. In WilmU's contest against Mercy she put up 25 points, going 7-11 from the floor, 4-5 from the three point line, and 7-9 from the foul line. She also grabbed eight rebounds, while dishing out two assists in 38 minutes played. In Wilmington's game against No. 9 regionally ranked Daemen, the junior finished with 13 points, going 4-7 from the floor and 2-3 from behind the arc, while dishing out three assists, two steals, and grabbing two rebounds. Whitsitt this season is tied for fifth in the CACC averaging 15.7 points per game, and seventh in the conference shooting 47.8 percent from deep. She also sits third in the league averaging 35.5 minutes played per game.

Male – Jermaine Head – Sr. – Men's Basketball:
The senior averaged 25.5 points throughout two games played last week. Head went 10-22 from the floor and 3-7 from the three point line for 27 points against Millersville. In their second game of the week, he shot .53 percent from the floor, while grabbing five rebounds for 24 points against Shippensburg. Head finished the week out going 10-10 from the free throw line, with nine rebounds and seven assists. He also shot .49 percent from the floor and .42 percent from behind the arc, while playing a total of 77 minutes. Head is currently second in the CACC averaging 22.8 points per game, and sits tied for first in free throw percentage, going 17-17 so far this season.

Female – Rachel Hirst – Jr. - Bowling:
Rachel Hirst helped the women's bowling team to a second place finish in the Wildcat DII/DIII Invite over the weekend. Hirst placed fifth overall bowling a 1,046 five match total for a 209.20 average on the second day of the tournament. She had three 200+ matches, including a day's high 227 against Mercyhurst, while bowling games of 226, 202, 199, and 192.  The junior earned All-Tournament team to finish out the weekend.

Male – Dimitrios Topouzlis – Sr. - Men's Soccer:
Topouzlis dished out two assists in the Wildcats 2-0 record last week. The senior from Thessaloniki, Greece got the Wildcats started in their 5-0 shutout over Concordia dishing out his first assist to Lorne Bickley, before following it up with another assist to Fredrik Bentdal for the second goal of the game. Topouzlis' two assists during the game gave him his third assist of the season, along with his third point of the year.

Female – CC Riojas – Fr. – Bowling:
CC Riojas helped the Wildcats to their first tournament victory in program history this past weekend at the Virginia Union Invitational. The freshman made the All-Tournament team after being the top Wildcats finisher, placing third overall with a 189.20 average in the baker and traditional rounds. Her total of 946 is the 13th best in program history, beating her previous best by 17 pins. She had a day's best in the baker and traditional matches, with a 245, which was the sixth best individual match in program history.

Male – Michael Dowd – Jr. – Men's Cross Country:
The first year Wildcat helped the men's cross country team to a first place finish at the CACC Cross Country Championships after finishing in fourth place with a time of 28:05.7 in the 8K. The junior was the second Wildcat to cross the finish line out of 82 runners to help WilmU finish with 39 points to capture their sixth Championship within eight years. Dowd's time was his third-best finish so far this season, with his best coming at the Don Cathcart Invitational with a time of 26:17.95 in the 8K.

Female – Kasie Lambert – Jr. – Women's Soccer:
Lambert had one goal and one assist for the Wildcats last week, finishing with three points. The junior midfielder got the Wildcats on the board first in their 3-0 shutout win over Chestnut Hill on a shot from about 30 yards out that hit just under the cross bar. She finished the night out with an assist to teammate Samantha Emmi from the far sideline into the middle for her second assist of the season. She finished out the week with a .714 shot on goal percentage, with 3.5 shots per game and 1.50 points per game in 180 minutes played.

Male – Hakim Williams – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Williams scored his first two goals as a Wildcat this past week in a 5-2 win over Caldwell. The junior midfielder gave WilmU a 3-0 lead in the contest, before scoring the final goal of the game on a cross from Nick Langat. He finished the week with four points and a .750 shot on goal percentage after playing in 95 minutes.

Female – Elly Collins - Fr. – Volleyball:
Collins led the back row with 85 digs last week, recording 5.67 digs per set. The freshman had double-digit digs throughout four matches, including 28 digs against Southern New Hampshire, while tying a career-high 29 digs against Mercy. Collins also had five service aces and 12 assists throughout the week. She now sits first in the CACC with 453 digs, while sitting fourth in the conference with 5.03 digs per set.

Male – Enrique Valverde – Jr. - Golf:
Enrique Valverde helped the men's golf team clinch the 2019 CACC Championship after coming back to move up five spots from the first round to claim medalist honors with a 75-72 for a 147 (+3). In the first round, Valverde was in sixth place, but came back after sinking a birdie on the par four second, before getting an even par on the par four hole. He got as low as one-under par, but ended the championship even. The junior from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is the first individual for Wilmington to earn the individual medalist honors since his former teammate Joey Russo did in 2015.

Female – Annabel Cortez – Fr. - Cross Country:
Freshman Annabel Cortez led the Wildcat women at the Jack St. Clair Memorial after finishing 19th overall out of 122 runners with a time of 25:58.0 in the 6K. The women finished sixth overall out of 12 collegiate teams with 166 points. Cortez' personal-best this season in the 6K came at the Don Cathcart Invitational on October 5, where she finished 24th overall with a time of 23:32.44.

Male – Garrett Checchi – So. – Men's Cross Country:
Checchi ran a new personal best 8K this past weekend, finishing seventh out of 146 runners at the Don Cathcart Invitational with a time of 25:48.73. The sophomore finished first for the Wilmington University men, helping them to a second place finish out of 15 teams, earning 65 points. Checchi beat his personal best 8K from last season by over a minute, which was 26:54.7 at the Inter-Regional Border Battle.

Female – Andrea Ribalta – Sr. – Women's Tennis:
The senior from Barcelona, Spain went 4-0 this past week for the Wildcats, helping them to a 1-0 record. Ribalta went 2-0 against Holy Family, including a 2-0 sweep in No. 1 singles, while winning 6-2 in No. 2 doubles with teammate Mallory Nolte. On October 5, she came back in No. 2 singles, winning the superset, 13-11, while clinching No. 2 doubles with a 7-6 win with Nolte. This season, she has only lost one singles match, going 6-1 so far, while going 3-4 in doubles throughout seven matches.

Male – Ben Jordan – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Ben Jordan had two goals and two assists for the men's soccer team last week, to help the Wildcats stay undefeated throughout eight games. The junior midfielder scored one goal and had one assist against Georgian Court, including his first penalty kick of the season. Jordan also scored one goal and had one assist in the men's 5-0 shutout over Dominican, while playing 39 minutes. He finished the week out with six points on four shots, for a .750 shots on goal percentage. He sits tied for eighth in the conference with teammate Fredrik Bentdal with eight points on the year, while tying for third in the league with four assists.

Female – Rebecca Rawlinson – Sr. - Volleyball:
In 13 sets played throughout three games, Rebecca Rawlinson collected 26 kills and 24 blocks for the Wildcats, helping them to a 2-1 record for the week. The senior had 10 kills and seven blocks to begin the week against Goldey-Beacom, before putting up nine kills and seven blocks in the Wildcats 3-2 win over top seeded Georgian Court. On Homecoming, she had seven kills and 10 blocks, seven of those blocks being solo, which is tied for second in program history with the most solo blocks in a match. Rawlinson finished out the week totaling 1.85 blocks per set, five service aces, and 2.00 kills per set. She is currently atop of the CACC with 1.11 blocks per set, and is first in total blocks with 62.

Male – Shawn Genus – Jr. – Men's Soccer:
The junior from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica scored one goal and had two assists for the Wildcats this past week. Genus had four shots in Wilmington's 2-1 win over Southern New Hampshire, while collecting four points with a goal and two assists in an 8-1 win over Felician. He helped the Wildcats finish 2-0 during the week, while finishing with 11 shots and a .455 shots on goal percentage. He is currently tied for fifth in the CACC with seven points, third in the league with 18 shots, and tied for second in the conference with three assists.

Female – Sarah Couch – So. – Volleyball:
Sarah Couch was named to the All-Tournament team, as she collected 112 assists and 25 digs for the Wildcats at the Daemen Classic over the weekend. The sophomore had a tournament-high 40 assists against Glenville St. to go along with eight digs and four service aces to begin the weekend. She was one dig shy of a double-double in the Wildcats match against Salem, finishing with 27 assists, nine digs, and six service aces. Throughout 13 sets played, she finished with 7.62 assists per set and 1.92 digs per set. She currently ranks second in the CACC with 9.67 assists per set, while leading the conference with a 0.70 service aces per set percentage.

Monday, September 16, 2019:

Male – Lorne Bickley – R.Jr. – Men's Soccer:
Bickley has been an attacking threat for the Wildcats since coming back this season after a year off. The red shirt junior finished with one goal and one assist last week. His lone goal came in the opening minutes against No. 1 West Chester, which helped the Wildcats to an early lead over the Rams. Against New York Tech, he collected an assist on a shot Abdul Mansaray for the second goal of the game. Bickley had 13 shots to finish with a .615 shot on goal percentage and three points. He is currently first in the CACC in goals (4), points (10), and shots (24).

Female – Mandy Behiels – Jr. – Volleyball:
In the Wildcat Regional Invitational, Behiels had 45 kills and 52 digs to help the Wildcats to a 2-2 record. She secured a double-double in all four matches, including 10 kills and 12 digs against Le Moyne and 12 kills and 14 digs against American International. In 17 sets played, she had nine service aces, while making three block assists and one block solo. She finished the tournament hitting .117 with a total of 56.5 points. The junior outside hitter ranks third in the CACC with 77 kills and 12th in the league with 81 digs.

Monday, September 9, 2019:

Male – Abdul Mansaray – Sr. – Men's Soccer:
In his first action since October 30, 2017, Abdul Mansaray put up two goals and an assist in two games to help lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 start. After Millersvilles scored to close the gap to 2-1 in the second half, Abdul scored back-to-back goals less than a minute apart to secure the 5-1 victory for the Wildcats. He then got a touch on a corner in the 100th minute against UDC, a ball that Joe Bell headed home for the golden goal on Saturday. Abdul finished with two goals and an assist for five points in his return weekend.

Female – Jessica Unsihuay – R.Jr. – Women's Soccer:
The redshirt junior lifted the Wildcats to a season opening 3-2 victory at New York Tech on Friday afternoon. She scored two goals in the game, both breaking ties in the second half. Her first goal in the 57th minute broke a 1-1 tie and then she scored the game-winner in the 81st minute off a pass in the box from Samantha Emmi. In two matches, she has seven shots, four of which have been on goal. The Wildcats went 1-1 in the opening weekend.
