Chris Stella was named Wilmington University's head athletic trainer in August 2004. He has led the athletic training staff into the institution's NCAA era as well as the transition from Wilmington College to Wilmington University. He oversees three assistant athletic trainers and all 14 of Wilmington University's athletic programs. 

Stella is the primary athletic trainer for volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's basketball, baseball, and men's golf.

Prior to working at Wilmington University, Stella was the head athletic trainer at Hodgson Vocational/Technical High School through ATI Physical Therapy in the spring of 2004. He was also the certified athletic trainer at Oxford Area High School through NovaCare for the 2002-2003 school year.

Stella has also spent spent intern hours with several NFL teams during mni-camp. He first spent time with the San Francisco 49ers in the summer of 1999 before interning with the Philadelphia Eagles in the summer of 2002. He returned to the Eagles as a full year intern from February 2003 to February 2004, and most recently spent time with the Minnesota Vikings during mini-camp in May 2007. 

Stella graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Athletic Training in 2000. He also earned his MPT from the University of Delaware in 2002. 

He is an active member of NATA and APTA and has certifications as a Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor and CPR for the Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross.
