Wilmington Baseball’s Rocky Ferrier Named CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District I

NEWARK, Del. - - Wilmington baseball junior Rocky Ferrier has been voted to the 2016 CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District I Team in recognition of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Ferrier (Perkasie, Pa.) is one of 11 baseball student-athletes in the East Region to be recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-District I honoree. Ferrier carries a 3.98 cumulative grade point average in the classroom while studying towards a Communications degree at Wilmington University.

On the diamond, Ferrier has played in 45 games in the outfield for the Wildcats, accumulating a .272 batting average in 158 at-bats. He has 43 base knocks on the year, collecting five doubles, and a home run, amassing 16 RBI and 18 runs scored. He was also successful in stealing three bases on the year.

His first hit came in a 2-for-4 performances against American International on March 6 while his first double of the season came in another 2-for-4 game against American International on March 7. Ferrier collected a season high three base hits in two separate games, first in a 3-for-5 game with two runs scored in game one at Felician, before going 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI, and three runs scored in game two against Philadelphia.

All First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-American honorees will be selected later this month.
