Chuck Delagol and La’Dae Boykin Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A pair of powerful performances last week has led two Wilmington University student-athletes to be named a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week as the conference office announce the weekly honors on Monday.

The baseball team went 6-3 last week and were led by a pair of strong pitching performances by Chuck Delagol (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) to pick up two conference wins. Delagol was named a CACC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

The women's lacrosse team went a perfect 2-0 against CACC opponent's last week, led by attack La'Dae Boykin's (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) scoring output, as she was named the CACC's Player of the Week.

Delagol dominated both his starts last week, going 2-0 while striking out 12 batters in 11.1 innings of work. He did not allow a run in his two starts, only giving up five hits and two walks. The Wildcats defeated Philadelphia, 1-0, and Concordia, 2-0, in his two starts.

The junior's week started with a game two start against Philadelphia on Monday. He went the first 5.1 innings, not allowing a run while striking out five Rams. He only gave up four hits before turning it over to the bullpen that finished off the shutout. He than came back and pitched 6.0 innings in game two against Concordia, striking out seven batter while only allowing one base hit. The bullpen finished off the 2-0 shutout victory once again. Delagol is now 3-0 on the year with a 0.71 ERA.

Boykin was named the CACC's Player of the Week after leading the offense with 12 goals and four assists for 16 points in two games. She collected eight points in each victory, adding six draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover in the team's wins over Nyack and Post.

The junior's week started with a career high seven goals against Nyack, adding an assist for eight points. She also collected four draw controls, going a perfect 2-for-2 on free position attempts. She then came out and scored five more goals at Post, adding three assists for eight points. Boykin also added four draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover in the 15-5 win. She is now third in the CACC with 24 goals and tied for third with 28 points.

Baseball's Julian Kurych was named to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll while women's lacrosse's Lashay Ross and Maddie Hurm were also named to their sport's Weekly Honor Roll.
