Sean Deely Adds D2CCA and ABCA All-East Region Second Team To Resume

NEW CASTLE, Del. - - Wilmington University sophomore Sean Deely was named to both the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-East Region Second Team.

The D2CCA All-East Region Teams were voted on by the region's sports information directors while the ABCA All-East Region Teams were voted on by the region's baseball head coaches.

Deely (Wilmington, Del.) helped the Wildcats to a 30-21 overall record and a second place finish in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season with a 17-5 mark. Deely led the pitching staff to the second lowest ERA in the league, 3.86, only trailing league champion Felician.

In his first season as a Wildcat, Deely settled in as the team's ace, going 7-1 in 12 starts. In 72.2 innings pitched, the redshirt sophomore only allowed 13 earned runs, leading to the ninth lowest ERA in program history (1.61) in a single season. Deely finished third in the CACC with 68 strikeouts this year, only allowing 21 walks, finishing seventh in the CACC with an 8.42 K/9 ratio.

Deely pitched a season high eight innings twice, first at Post on April 15 in a 9-2 win before tossing eight strong in the CACC Tournament First Round game against Nyack on May 6. He struck out a season's best nine twice as well, first at Goldey-Beacom on April 2 and again in his next start on April 8 at Dominican.

Southern New Hampshire's third baseman Zach Goldstein was voted as the 2017 D2CCA East Region Player of the Year while Adelphi's TJ Santiago was voted as the 2017 D2CCA East Region Pitcher of the Year.
