Wilmington Baseball Teams Up with Muscle Movement Foundation and Signs Mike Smith to 2018 Contract

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University baseball team is pleased to announce the newest member of the Wildcat family, Mike Smith, as he signed a Letter of Participation for the upcoming 2018 season in front of current Wildcats, head coach Brian August, family, and friends.

Smith joins the Wildcats through the Muscle Movement Foundation by way of organization founder, president, and muscular dystrophy champion Rob DeMasi. Smith is a current Wilmington University student and muscular dystrophy survivor who is refusing to lose to duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic form of muscular dystrophy.

Throughout the 2018 season, the Wildcats will be raising awareness and asking for pledges to be paid at the end of the season. The Wildcats will be playing with a purpose to "Strikeout Muscle Disease" all season long, accepting pledges for every strikeout and walk that amounts throughout the year.

Smith will be in attendance during home games at every opportunity throughout the season, so if he's spotted at Wilson Field be sure to welcome him to the team and to the Wildcat Family!
