Chuck Delagol, Lashay Ross, and Josh Burley Rewarded as CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The spring sport athletes continue to shine on the field and are being rewarded with conference weekly awards as three student-athletes have been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week on Monday by the conference office.

Baseball's Chuck Delagol was named the CACC Pitcher of the Week, women's lacrosse's Lashay Ross was named the CACC Player of the Week, and men's lacrosse's Josh Burley was named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

Chuck Delagol (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) secured a CACC doubleheader sweep over in-state rival Goldey-Beacom on Sunday with a complete game shutout in game two. He only allowed two hits (one in the first inning and one in the seventh inning), while striking out a career high 11 batters. He left the tying run on second base in the top of the seventh inning, picking up his final strikeout to end the game. He only walked one batter as well. It is the first time in his career that he has been named the CACC Pitcher of the Week.

Lashay Ross (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) led the Wildcats to a CACC opening victory over Post, 24-12, on Saturday. She tied for the team high with six goals and one assist for seven points, but added six draw controls, five ground balls, and one caused turnover in the winning effort as well. She scored six goals on just eight shots in the game. Ross is tied with teammate La'Dae Boykin for second in the CACC with 24 goals, but has a hefty lead on the conference with 61 draw controls on the year. It is the second time this season that Ross has been named the CACC Player of the Week, also earning the award on February 26.

Josh Burley (Easton, Pa./Easton) helped lead the Wildcats in their only action last week, a 13-10 loss to Montevallo in Norfolk, Va. He may have only scored two goals in the game, but contributed greatly by going 8-of-16 in the face-off circle, adding seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Burley ranks fifth in the CACC with 11 goals on the year, and is tops in the CACC with a 55.9 face-off win percentage, going 33-of-59 on the year so far. It is the second week in a row that Burley has been named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

Baseball's Christian Adorno hit .417 in four games last week to earn a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll. Men's lacrosse's Chris Smith led the team with four goals against Montevallo to earn a spot on the sport's Weekly Honor Roll as well. Women's lacrosse's Christina Ziegler controlled seven draws, and caused two turnovers to round out the Wildcats on the Weekly Honor Roll.
