Baseball Returns to NCBWA East Region Poll With Eighth Place Positioning

NEWARK, Del. - - An eight-game winning streak has propelled the Wilmington University baseball team back into the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Poll on Monday, as it landed 27 points and sits in eighth overall.

The Wildcats (23-14 overall) were tied for 10th with two other teams last week, but moved into the Top-10 by going 7-0 last week.

Le Moyne continues to have a strangle hold on the East Region with a 27-9-1 overall record, receiving seven first place votes to top the poll for the second straight week. New Haven received the other two first place votes and has 84 points with a 27-6 overall record for second place. St. Thomas Aquinas rounds out the Top-3 with 72 points.

Southern New Hampshire is fourth with a 25-12 record while Franklin Pierce slides down one spot to fifth with a 23-11-1 overall record. LIU Post holds at sixth with 43 points followed by Adelphi who also moved up two spots to seventh with a 20-14-1 record and 29 points. The Wildcats are eighth with 27 points and a 23-14 overall record.

Rounding out the Top-10 this week is Molloy in ninth with 21 points and Pace in 10th with six points.

Wilmington was last in the NCBWA East Regional Poll the week of March 5 prior to last week's tied for 10th position.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play Kutztown, Jefferson, Felician and Caldwell this week.
