Zach Rumford Named CACC Pitcher of the Week for First Time

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Senior Zach Rumford pitched the Wilmington University baseball team into the double elimination portion of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Saturday, earning him the CACC Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The lefty pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen at Millersville before earning the win against Nyack in a win or go home situation on Saturday at Wilson Field.

In the start on Saturday, Rumford went seven scoreless innings, striking out eight while only allowing seven hits. He did not walk a batter in improving to 6-3 on the year. He worked out of a two-on, no-out jam in the second, and left two runners on base in the seventh and his final inning in leading to the 2-0 victory.

It is the first time Rumford has been named the CACC Pitcher of the Week in his career. He is now 6-3 in 14 appearances this season, striking out 78 batters with only 15 walks. He carries a 2.95 ERA into the CACC Tournament this weekend.

Teammate Christian Adorno was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after leading the team with a .429 batting average and going 5-for-5 with two homers and two doubles at Millersville.
