NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Nine Wilmington University baseball student-athletes earned a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference Teams, led by nine on the First Team, in a vote of the league's 12 head coaches, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The nine student-athletes tie a program record for the most selected in a single season, as nine student-athletes also earned All-CACC in 2013. There were also eight selected in each the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Highlighting the 2018 All-CACC First Team are second baseman Max Carney (Wilmington Del./Concord), starting pitchers Sean Deely (Wilmington, Del./Archmere) and Brad Scull (Aston, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), and relief pitcher Justin Mears (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central)

Highlighting the Wildcats on the 2018 All-CACC Second Team is first baseman Kendall Small (Dover, Del./Dover), shortstop Christian Adorno (Millville, N.J./St. Augustine Prep), starting pitcher Zach Rumford (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum), designated hitter Brooks Ryan (Westminster, Md./Wintersmill), and utility player Frank Nigro (Stony Point, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep).

Max Carney leads the Wildcats and is second in the CACC with 54 RBI on the season. He is second on the team with a .361 batting average, tying for the team lead with 61 hits. Carney has hit eight doubles with one triple and three home runs, scoring 32 runs as well. It is the first time in his career that he has earned All-CACC.

Sean Deely returns to the First Team after going 5-2 in 10 appearances, making eight starts with 52.1 innings pitched. He has accumulated 52 strikeouts and a 2.41 ERA for the season. He has come on strong down the stretch, winning his last four starts, going at least seven innings in each game. He struck out 14 batters in eight innings against USciences on April 18. In those four wins, he only allowed two runs in 29 innings.

Brad Scull leads the CACC with eight wins on the year, gong 8-2 in 12 appearances. He is third in the CACC with 70 strikeouts, ranking second overall with a 9.84 strikeout per nine-inning average. He has accumulated a 3.09 ERA in 64 innings pitched, ranking sixth in the CACC. He struck out a season high 11 batters twice, totaling three games with double digit punch outs. It is the first time in his career that he has earned All-CACC.

Justin Mears didn't collect his first save of the season until March 17, but then went on to lead the CACC with 10. He has appeared in 19 games, throwing 20.2 innings pitched while finishing with a 1.74 ERA and batters hitting .197 against the righty. Mears has 21 strikeouts on the year, allowing only four earned runs. It is the first time in his career that he has earned All-CACC.

Kendall Small repeats as a Second Team All-CACC performer, finishing third on the team with a .351 batting average. He leads the team with 61 hits, collecting eight doubles, three triples, and three home runs. He is second on the team and fourth in the CACC with 42 RBI. Small hit home runs at Bloomfield, against Jefferson, and against Caldwell, collecting a season high five RBI twice on the season.

Christian Adorno returns to the All-Conference Team after missing last season due to an injury. He was a First Team All-CACC performer in 2015 and 2016. Adorno leads the team and is sixth in the CACC with a .381 batting average, ranking second overall with a .517 on-base percentage. He has collected 59 hits with 13 doubles, a triple, and three home runs, amassing a .535 slugging percentage, ranking sixth in the CACC. He also ranks fourth in the CACC with 50 runs and sixth overall with 21 stolen bases.

Zach Rumford helped lead the Wildcats into the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament with seven scoreless innings against Nyack on Saturday. In 14 appearances and 12 starts this year, the lefty is 6-3 with the second most innings pitched (76.1) and second most strikeouts (78) in the CACC. He is third overall with 9.20 strikeouts per nine innings and fifth overall with a 2.95 ERA on the season. It is the first time in his career that he has earned All-CACC.

Brooks Ryan led the team with four home runs on the season, with two of them coming in the first inning from the leadoff position. Ryan has 45 hits on the year, collecting five doubles and a triple, amassing a .471 slugging percentage and a .331 batting average. The designated hitter has 35 runs scored on the year with 17 RBI. It is the first time in his career that he has earned All-CACC.

Frank Nigro split time behind the plate and at third base for the Wildcats, playing in 42 games. He is hitting .305 on the year with 46 hits, nine doubles, and a home run, collecting 28 RBI and scoring 16 more. He's caught five runners attempting to steal a base, throwing out 27.8 percent of would be base runners. He hit his first collegiate home run at Shippensburg on March 15, collecting a season high four RBI twice. It is the first time in his career that he has earned All-CACC.

Felician's Matt Diesel was named the CACC Player of the Year while his teammate Michael Gutierrez was voted as the CACC Rookie of the Year. Concordia's Dylan Lawrence earned the CACC Pitcher of the Year award while the league's sports information directors voted Felician head coach Chris Langan as the CACC Coach of the Year after winning the South Division. USciences wraps up the CACC Major Awards by earning the Team Sportsmanship Award.
