Luke Johnson and Dan Hyatt Earn CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Following the opening weekend of play, two Wilmington University baseball players were named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.

Leading the team to a 4-0 weekend, newcomer Luke Johnson was named the CACC Player of the Week while redshirt junior Dan Hyatt was named the league's Pitcher of the Week. Men's basketball's Thomas Farrior was named to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in a 2-0 week.

Luke Johnson (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) led all players who started all four games with a .471 average, batting 8-for-17 with a double, a triple, and two home runs, and a team high 10 RBI. He also scored three times and finished with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage.

In his first game as a Wildcat, the senior transfer went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, and two runs scored against Molloy. He then batted 2-for-5 with a two-run double against New Haven to close out Friday. On Saturday, he batted 2-for-6 against #19 St. Thomas Aquinas, picking up three more RBI. The weekend ended with a 2-for-3 performance against Southern Connecticut State, hitting a home run and a triple, knocking in two RBI and scoring one more.

Dan Hyatt (Newark, Del./Conrad) was stellar on the mound in his first outing since the 2017 season. Making the start against #19 St. Thomas Aquinas, Hyatt went six innings while only allowing one run on three hits and two walks. He struck out a team best 12 strikeouts in those six innings, picking up the win as the Wildcats defeating the Spartans, 14-3.

Men's basketball's Thomas Farrior averaged 25.5 points in two games last week, scoring 22 points against USciences and adding 29 against Chestnut Hill on Saturday, shooting 56.4 percent from the floor for the week. He helped the Wildcats lock up a CACC Tournament berth with the win over USciences.
