BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - - Senior pitcher Sean Deely has been named the East Region National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Pitcher of the Week for his outing against Nyack last week.
Deely, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week as well, tossed seven shutout innings against Nyack, leading to a 3-0 win for the Wildcats. He struck out 10 batters while only allowing three walks and four hits.
With the win, he improved to 6-2 on the year, and now has 72 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched. In 10 appearances (eight starts), he has a 5.05 ERA on the year, striking out 12.54 batters per nine innings.
Bentley's Max Troiani was named the East Region NCBWA Hitter of the Week after homering five times and had a 1.769 slugging percentage. He went 7-for-13 with eight RBI, five runs scored, and 23 total bases.
