CALDWELL, N.J. – With double digit hits in both games, the Wilmington University baseball team swept Caldwell, 17-3 and 19-6 at Kiwanis Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Game one:
The Wildcats (31-16, 19-11 CACC) scored 15 runs throughout four innings against the Cougars with 19 hits, to go on to a 17-3 win.
Wilmington got on the board in the second inning on a bunt single from Max Carney to make it a 1-0 game. The top of the third inning started four consecutive innings, where the Wildcats scored three or more runs. Dakota Graham and Quintin Ivy got the inning started with back-to-back singles, before Kendall Small reached first on an error by the pitcher, which scored both Graham and Ivy. Max Carney would bring in the third run of the inning with a groundout to the second baseman.
With a 10-0 lead heading into the top of the sixth inning, Quintin Ivy hit a bases loaded two-run RBI single to left field to make it a 12-0 ballgame. Kendall Small followed right behind Ivy with a triple to right field, scoring two more runs, before Eddie Nevins got into the two-run RBI mix with a homerun to left field, giving the Wildcats a 16-0 lead.
Pitcher Kyle Maxwell did not allow a hit until the fourth inning against the Cougars. He would go 7.0 IP, allowing three hits, one run, one walk, while striking out 10 batters.
Quintin Ivy went 4-for-6 with three RBI, as Dakota Graham went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Eddie Nevins went 2-for-2 with a two-run homerun and a double with four RBI. Kendall Small had a triple and three RBI, as Max Carney had two RBI in the contest.
Game Two:
Wilmington scored 10 runs on two hits in the second inning, including eight runs with two outs, to jump out to another double-digit lead in game two.
With the bases loaded, Dan Hyatt hit a two-run RBI single to right field to start the scoring for the Wildcats. With two outs, Quintin Ivy followed Hyatt's hit with his own two-run RBI single to right. The next three runs would come from a walk and two hit by pitches to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead. Forcing a pitching change for the Cougars, Matt Stepnoski would get in the mix, reaching on a fielder choice, until advancing all the way to third on a throwing error by the shortstop, which cleared the bases and gave the Wildcats a 10-0 lead.
WilmU would score four more runs in the top of the third to extend their lead to 14-0, but the shutout would be knocked off in the bottom half of the inning, as the Cougars got on the board with two runs.
Another four-run inning for the Wildcats came in the top of the fifth, as Luke Johnson hit a single to the shortstop to score the first run. They would get one run off a Caldwell error, before Frank Nigro singled to center scoring two more runs to give Wilmington an 18-3 lead. Quintin Ivy would give the Wildcats their 19th run of the ballgame, along with his third hit and third RBI of the game, with a solo homerun out to left field in the top of the sixth.
The Cougars would get three more runs back in their final at bats to make it a 19-6 ballgame.
Rudy Gervolino would get the win, improving to 2-0 on the season. He went 4.0 IP, allowing three hits, three runs, two walks, with nine strikeouts. Gervolino would strikeout six of the first seven batters he faced in the ballgame.
Quintin Ivy would go 3-for-5 with a solo homerun and three RBI. Eddie Nevins went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI, as Luke Johnson had one hit and three RBI. Frank Nigro went 2-for-4 with two RBI, as Max Carney and Dan Hyatt both had two RBI each.

The Wildcats are back at Wilson Field tomorrow in a make-up game from Friday, as they will host Jefferson for Senior Day. Game one is slated for 12:00 p.m.
