NEWARK, Del. – The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Teams have been announced by the College Sport Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Wilmington University's Julian Kurych earned a spot on the list, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes who perform both on and off the field.
Kurych was one of 12 student athletes in the NCAA Division II District I group to earn First Team after earning a 3.85 cumulative GPA through his senior year, while studying business management.
The outfielder from Middletown, Delaware finished his career at Wilmington batting .305 this year with 43 hits, including 12 doubles, four triples, and seven homeruns for 35 RBI, ranking him fourth on the team. He was 5-7 in stolen bases this season, while being walked 18 times, and led the team in hit by pitches with 23. He collected a season high five RBI, going 2-for-4 in Wilmington's 22-10 win over Chestnut Hill on March 29, with two doubles. He finished the year with a career best .452 on base percentage, along with a career best .596 slugging percentage.
Kurych was one of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference student-athletes to earn the Academic All-District I recognition, as Dominican had the other. All honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in June.
