Danny Sullivan and Mitchell Leslie Earn a Spot on 2020 CACC Baseball All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Wilmington University baseball team earned two Wildcats on the 2020 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference Friday morning.

The men were led by first-time honoree sophomores Mitchell Leslie and Danny Sullivan. Sullivan maintained a 3.65 cumulative GPA while majoring in business, as Leslie sustained a 3.63 GPA while studying criminal justice.

The 2020 CACC Baseball All-Academic Team was compiled of 34 student-athletes from 10 Universities. Jefferson University led the way with nine honorees followed by Post with five.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution. Requirements for eligibility for the all-academic teams were slightly altered this spring only, as the 2020 spring season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jefferson's Bryce Herman led all recipients with a 3.98 cumulative GPA while majoring in finance his sophomore year, as his teammate Gunnar Hayes earned the second-highest GPA on the list with a 3.93 in finance for the second time throughout his career. Caldwell's Kenneth Matta was the final honoree to earn a 3.9 GPA or higher, earning a 3.92 GPA studying sports management.

Six student athletes earned the honoree for the third time throughout their career, while eight student-athletes earned the award for a second time.
