JERSEY CITY, N.J. - - The Wilmington University baseball team scored in every inning of a 14-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory on the road at Nyack on Tuesday afternoon.

The Wildcats (4-0, 4-0 CACC) forced the 10-run mercy rule to be put in play, as the teams only played seven innings of the scheduled nine-inning game.

The scoring started in the top of the first inning, giving starter Kyle Maxwell a nice cushion to pitch with. After JJ Killen forced in a run by walking, Shawn Haut hit a three-run double to left center to open a 4-0 lead in the early going.

Killen and Nic Hertzfeld added RBIs in the second while Dominic Fiorentini singled in a run and Quintin Ivy walked in another for the 8-0 lead after three. Nic Hertzfeld added another RBI with a triple in the fourth and the Wildcats led 10-0 after the top of the fourth.

Maxwell struck out four through the first three innings, but than the Warriors (0-5, 0-5 CACC) got on the put with two outs in the fourth. With the bases loaded after a hit batter, back-to-back walks brought in a pair before Maxwell picked up another strikeout to end the threat.

Ivy singled in a run in the sixth and CJ Deery capped the scoring with an RBI groundout in the seventh.

Maxwell went 4.2 innings while striking out seven, but allowed two runs on three hits and four walks. Xander Emberger pitched the next 1.1 innings with three strikeouts while Justin Barcoski closed out the win with a scoreless seventh.

JJ Killen and Nic Hertzfeld led the Wildacts with two hits each while Killen, Shawn Haut, and Hertzfeld led the way with three RBI each.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday when they host Felician in CACC cross-division doubleheader at Wilson Field. First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m.
