Quintin Ivy, Ryan Sandberg, and Dan Hyatt Named First Team All-CACC for Wilmington Baseball

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Three Wildcats were named to the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball All-Conference First Team on Tuesday, as Quintin Ivy, Ryan Sandberg, and Dan Hyatt represent Wilmington University for the 2021 season.

The Wildcats finished 16-10 overall in 2021, falling in the quarterfinal round of the CACC Tournament as they were attempting for a three-peat.

Quintin Ivy (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) led the Wildcats and finished sixth in the CACC with a .398 batting average. In CACC games only, he is third overall with 34 hits, leading the league with 12 doubles, and second overall with eight homers. He is also second in CACC games only with 36 RBI, ranking fifth overall in all games this year. He has a slash line of .398/.509/.807, ranking fourth overall in on-base percentage and fifth overall in slugging percentage.

Ivy was named the NCBWA East Region Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks earlier this year, all during a two-week stretch in which he batted 17-for-31 (.548) with five doubles, four homers, 19 RBI, and 13 runs scored. He had a season high six RBI during that stretch, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a homer and four runs scored against Nyack.

Ryan Sandberg (Island Park, N.Y./West Hempstead) leads all starting pitchers in the CACC with a 2.70 ERA on the year. His 33 innings pitched in CACC games was fourth in the league, as he also threw 3.2 innings in the postseason game for 36.2 total innings for the year. He struck out 29 batters with only 12 walks, allowing 11 earned runs on the season. He had a season high six strikeouts twice this year, first in six innings against Felician and then in six innings against Bloomfield. Sandberg threw his lone complete game of the season at Caldwell.

Dan Hyatt (Newark, Del./Conrad) was named the First Team Pitcher/Utility, utilized as a dual threat for the Wildcats all season. In 32.1 innings pitched, he struck out 37 batters, ranking seventh in the CACC with a 10.30 strikeout per nine innings pitched. Hyatt had a season high eighth strikeouts twice this year, first against Felician and then against Goldey-Beacom.  He also finished fifth on the team with a .313 average at the plate, going 2-for-64 with five doubles, a triple, a homer, nine RBI and 16 runs scored. He finished with a slash line of .313/.463/.469 on the season. His homer came in a 6-1 win at Caldwell.

Dominican's Joshua Colon was named the CACC Player of the Year while Jefferson's Jack Galligan was named the CACC Pitcher of the Year. Goldey-Beacom's Garrett Musey was named the CACC Rookie of the Year while his coach Tom Riley was voted as the CACC Coach of the Year by the league's sports information directors. Rounding out the Major Awards was Nyack, winning the Team Sportsmanship Award.
