Baseball Moves Back into No. 5 Spot in Latest NCBWA East Region Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - After a perfect 5-0 week starting with their victory against Kutztown University on Tuesday, the Wilmington University baseball team moved up in the weekly NCBWA East Region Poll to the No. 5 spot.

To start their week against Kutztown, the Wildcats scored eight runs in the sixth inning to secure the 13-4 victory. They swept two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchups as well, first against Bloomfield College last Wednesday and then against Felician University this past Friday. Adrian Jimenez had himself a career day at the plate in game one against Bloomfield. Jimenez went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and three RBI. Matt Boyko went the distance in game two against Bloomfield, pitching seven innings, with no runs and four strikeouts for his third win of the season. John Mean collected four RBIs and Shawn Edevane had three RBIs in the 11-3 game one victory over Felician. Shawn Haut and JJ Killen both hit doubles in their final game of the week, a 3-2 victory against Felician in game two.

For the 10th time in program history, the Wildcats have the opportunity to compete in the Bill Giles Invitational final at the Philadelphia Phillies' home stadium, Citizens Bank Park, at 3:00 PMw They will face off against West Chester University. In their first matchup of the year back on Tuesday, April 29th the #19 Golden Rams, edged out the Wildcats 5-4.

Tickets to today's game are $5.00 each. Entrance to the ballpark will be at the Home Plate VIP Entrance. Parking can be found in the Phillies "P" lot, which is located on Darien Street.
