Two Wilmington Cheerleading Stunt Groups Invited to Compete at 2018 UCA National Championships

NEWARK, Del. - - A pair of Wilmington University stunt groups will kick off the 2018 Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Cheerleading National Championships a day early after being invited to compete in the Partner Stunt National Championships.

The 2018 UCA Partner Stunt National Championship will precede the team competition on Friday, January 12, at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The Wildcats' cheerleading team will then try for their seventh straight UCA Division II Small Coed National Championship the follow day on Saturday, January 13.

The all girl group of Kristen Basquill, Maranda Moreland, MaKayla Moreland, and Ciana Perez qualified seventh overall after their entry tapes were reviewed. UCA invited 12 all-girl groups to the competition while 22 groups entered.

The duo of Wendy Mayerson and Jonathan Marrero qualified 12th overall in the partner stunt category, being one of 15 partner stunt groups to earn in invitation. The Wildcat pairing were one of 15 groups that qualified while 28 entries were graded.

The UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship will be held from January 12-14 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The Wildcats have taken home the team trophy every year since 2012.
