WilmU Cheer Earns 2020 UCA Small Coed Division II National Runner-Up Finish

ORLANDO, Fla. - - The Wilmington University cheerleading team placed second overall in the Small Coed Division II group at the 2020 UCA College Cheerleading National Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex over the weekend.

Division II counterpart Drury University edged the Wildcats in the category, claiming the 2020 National Championship after back-to-back second place finishes to the Wildcats.

The second-place finish snaps a streak of eight consecutive Small Coed Division II National Championships won by the Wildcats, starting with the 2012 competition.

The Wildcats advanced out of the semi-final round as one of the top eight programs, competing against 15 other colleges and universities.

Other notable winners include: Morehead State University (Division I); University of Memphis (Small Coed Division I); Sacred Heart University (All Girl Division I); University of Central Florida (Division IA); University of Alabama (All-Girl Division IA); University of Tennessee (Division IA Coed Game Day); University of Nevada-Las Vegas (Division IA All-Girl Game Day); University of Delaware (Open Coed Game Day); University of Rhode Island (Open All-Girl Game Day); University of West Georgian (Division II); Shelton State Community College (Open Coed); The College of New Jersey (Open All-Girl); University of Colorado Boulder (Mascot Division IA); and Villanova University (Open Mascot).
