Andreas Lunding Earns Medalist Honors as Wilmington Golf Takes 2015 Goldey-Beacom Spring Invite

Junior Andreas Lunding led the Wilmington University golf team took its first tournament of the 2015 spring season, winning the 2015 Goldey-Beacom College Spring Invitational by five strokes on Monday at the Garrisons Lake Golf Club.

Lunding (Horsholm, Denmark/Rungsted Gymnasium) was the lone representative below par on the round, shooting a 71 (-1) to lead the field by two strokes. The Wildcats finished with 309 strokes, five better than the field of eight other teams.

Freshman Joey Russo finished in a tie for seventh with a round of 77 (+5) while senior Alexander Lautenschlaeger finished in a tie for 11th with a 79 (+7). Sophomore Freddy Braun rounded out the Wilmington scoring by finishing in a tie for 24th overall, shooting an 82 (+10) in the 18-holes.

Playing as individuals, junior Alex Healy and sophomore Sam Clark finished in a tie for 32nd overall, shooting an 84 (+12) for the round.

Junior Jordan Lamb was the fifth participant for the Wildcats and finished in 48th overall with an 88 (+16) score. Senior Matt DiEleuterio rounded out the Wildcats in action on Monday, shooting a 96 (+24) and finishing in 53rd overall as an individual.

The Wildcats defeated West Chester by five strokes while Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference partner Concordia tied for third overall with a score of 317. Concordia tied American International and Dowling at 29-over par.
