ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - - The Wilmington University golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the 2015-16 season in 11th place at the Jay Jennison Memorial on Tuesday, played on the Slammer & Squire at the World Golf Resort Village.
The Wildcats shot a 311 in the third and final round on Tuesday morning, finishing out a 290-294-311 for an 895 three-round tournament. The Wildcats finished 31-over par and in 11th place overall.
Senior Andreas Lunding led the charge for the Wildcats on Tuesday, shooting a team low 72 to finish in 20th overall. Lunding went 73-74-72 for a tournament score of 291.
Junior Sam Clark shot a 78 on Tuesday, finishing with a 73-75-78 for a three round score of 226 (+10). He placed in a tie for 45th overall for the tournament. Sophomore Joey Russo was the third Wildcat to score on Tuesday, posting an 80 in the final round to finish with a 73-74-80. His 227 (+11) put him in a tie for 49th overall.
Junior transfer Troy Miller rounded out the Wildcat scoring on Tuesday, shooting an 81 to finish with a 71-72-81, for a three round tournament of 224 (+8). He was the low Wildcat coming into Tuesday before Lunding took him over for the lead. Miller finished in a tie for 35th overall.
Freshman Ryan Rucinski closed out his collegiate debut with an 84, posting an 81-74-84 for a tournament score of 239 (+23). He finished in a tie for 73rd for the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Jordan Lamb closed the tournament with the Wildcats' second best round, shooting a 76 on Tuesday. He finished his tournament with a 76-77-76 for a 229 (+13). He placed 56th overall. Junior transfer Miguel Siercke closed out his first tournament as a Wildcat with an 80 on Tuesday, finishing with a 77-79-80 for a 236 (+20). He placed 70th overall.
West Florida's Henry Westmoreland jumped seven spots on the leaderboard with a 66 on Tuesday, closing out the tournament with a 207 (-9) to win the tournament by four strokes.
Westmoreland led West Florida to the team title as well, as the team shot a 289 on Tuesday to hold onto the lead. West Florida finished with a 852 (-12) to defeat host Flagler by seven strokes.
The Wildcats return north for their next round of golf, as they are set to participate in the CACC Fall Challenge on October 6. The one-day tournament is set to be played at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa.
