Wildcat Golfers Claim 2015 CACC Fall Invitational with 290 Team Score

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. - - The Wilmington University golf team captured it second straight invite in as many days as it shot a 290 at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Invitational, beating the field by 15 strokes at The ACE Club on Tuesday afternoon.

In essentially what was the CACC Preview for the spring championship, the Wildcats took care of business with a 290. All five golfers finished in the Top-10 individually, with the top four scorers finishing fourth or better.

The Wildcats were led by senior Andreas Lunding and freshman Ryan Rucinski, as they both shot a 71 (-1), finishing in a tie for second overall. Juniors Sam Clark and Miguel Siercke each tied for fourth on the afternoon, finishing with a 74 (+2). Sophomore Joey Russo was the final Wildcat on the course, shooting a 75 (+3) for the day, coming in a tie for seventh overall.

Concordia placed second with a 305, while Post came in third overall with a 307. Dominican placed fourth overall with a 311 while Chestnut Hill rounded out the top five with a 312.

Post's Jose Luis Martinez earned medalist honors for the Eagles, as he posted a low round score of 68 (-4). The top four scorers for the Wildcats were next in the individual standings.

The Wildcats return to action in six days, as they head south to sunny Florida for their next tournament. Wilmington will compete in the Guy Harvey Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, hosted by Nova Southeastern. The first day of the two-day tournament is on Monday, October 12 at PGA National.
