Wilmington Golf Sits in 15th After First Two Rounds at Otter Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. - - The Wilmington University golf team opened the 2015 Otter Invitational with a two round score of 604, finishing the day in 15th with a pair of rounds on the Bayonet-Blackhorse Golf Course hosted by CSU Monterey Bay on Monday afternoon.

The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 300 to sit in 14th place overall after the first round, but slipped to 15th overall after a second round 304. The Wildcats are at 28-over par for the tournament, 33 strokes off the leaders from Chico State.

Senior Andreas Lunding shot a consistent 74-74 for a 148 (+4) after the first day, sitting in a tie for 32nd overall. Freshman Ryan Rucinski shot the best second round for the Wildcats, hitting a 73 in the late afternoon to finish with a 76-73 for a 149 (+5) on the first day. He moved up 17 spots after the first round to sit in a tie for 39th overall.

Junior Sam Clark shot the best round of the day for the Wildcats, shooting a 72 (E) in the first round to sit in a tie for 20th after 18 holes. He slipped to a tie for 67th overall after the first day, shooting an 81 in round two to come in with a 153 (+9) on the day.

Sophomore Joey Russo was the fourth scorer for the Wildcats, shooting three strokes better in the second round. He fired an 80 in the first round but rebounded with a 76 in round two to total a 156 (+12). He is in a tie for 80th overall after the first day.

Junior Troy Miller rounded out the Wildcats on Monday, shooting a 78-81 for a 159 (+15) two round score.  He is in a tie for 89th overall.

Senior Jordan Lamb played as an individual for the Wildcats, also improving by three strokes in the second round. Lamb shot a 79-76 for a two round score of 155 (+11). He is in a tie for 74th overall.

Chico State totaled a 571 (-5) as a team in the first two round, followed by Nova Southeastern's 574 (-2). Host CSU Monterey Bay and Simon Fraser are in a tie for third overall with a 581 (+5).

Nova Southeastern's Richard Mansell fired a day's best 66 in the second round to take over the lead for the day. He finished with a 69-66 for a 135 (-9). He is one of 13 players to finish under par in the first two rounds.

The Wildcats wrap up the Otter Invitational on Tuesday with the third round.
