Wilmington Golf Ranked Second in Latest NCAA Division II East Regional Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - Heading into the final week of the regular season the Wilmington University golf team finds itself in good position in the East Region, bring ranked second in the latest NCAA Division II Men's Golf East Regional Poll, as announced on Friday.

The Wildcats only trail St. Thomas Aquinas in the East Region, a team they have seen at all three of their spring tournaments. The Spartans beat the Wildcats in the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational to kick start the 2016 opener, but the Wildcats captured the victory at the Coach Carpenter Classic over the Spartans.

Most recently, the Spartans finished tied for third overall at the Buccaneer Invitational after shooting a 278 in the final round while the Wildcats shot a 296 in the final round to finish in a tie for 10th overall.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference had three other teams in the Top-10 in the latest poll, as Concordia (7th), Chestnut Hill (8th), and Post (9th) fill out the poll.

The Wildcats will host the CACC Tournament at Back Creek Golf Club starting on April 19 looking for their sixth consecutive conference crown. The Wildcats are hoping to advance to the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament to defend their Regional Championship as well.
