Wilmington Golf Shoots 301 to Finish 13th Overall at Otter Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. - - The Wilmington University golf team shot a 301 on Tuesday to close out the Otter Invitational, finishing 13th overall with a 908 (+44) total on the Bayonet Golf Course hosted by CSU Monterey Bay.

Lynn University took home the Otter Invitational team championship with an 865 (+1) while the host Otters shot an 870 (+6) for second place. Nova Southeastern rounded out the top three with an 871 (+7).

The Wildcats tied their second round score of 301 on Tuesday, remaining in 13th place overall with a 306-301-301 for a 908 (+44).

Senior Freddy Braun shot the best round of the tournament for the Wildcats, shooting a 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 27th overall. He only improved in each round throughout the tournament, shooting an 80-72-71 for a team best 223 (+7).

Senior classmate Sam Clark collected the second best third round score for the Wildcats, shooting a 75 on Tuesday. He also improved each round, finishing in a tie for 50th overall with a 77-76-75 for a 228 (+12).

Senior classmate Miguel Siercke closed out his tournament with a 77 on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 57th overall. Siercke shot a 78-75-77 for a 230 (+14) overall. Junior Zac Moore rounded out the Wildcat scoring on Tuesday with a 78, finishing the tournament in a tie for 67th overall. Moore shot a 77-78-78 for a 233 (+17).

Junior Joey Russo closed out the Wildcats on the course on Tuesday, shooting an 83 to finish in a tie for 74th overall. Russo finished the tournament with a 74-79-83 for a 236 (+20).

Simon Frazer's Chris Crisologo held onto his lead in the third round, shooting a 71 to beat the field by two strokes. He shot a 69-68-71 for a 208 (-8) to earn medalist honors. Nova Southeastern's Richard Mansell shot a 69-71-70 for a 201 (-6) to come in second place.

The Wildcats return to Florida next week to compete in the GolfRank Invitational which was rescheduled. The tournament was originally postponed due to Hurricane Matthew, but will now be played on Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th. Nova Southeastern will host the tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
