Wildcats Shoot 307 in Final Round, Finish Ninth at GolfRank Invitational

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - - The Wilmington University golf team wrapped up the GolfRank Invitational in ninth place on Tuesday, shooting a 307 in the third round at PGA National Fazio Course, hosted by Nova Southeastern.

The Wildcats finished with a 925 in the three-round tournament, shooting a 304-314-307 to finishing 61-over par. Nationally third ranked Lynn took the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a day's low 292 to break away form No. 1 Barry, finishing with an 869 (+5). Barry finished second with a 294 on Tuesday, shooting an 871 (+7) for the tournament.

Junior Troy Miller led the Wildcats in the third round, shooting a 75 to finish in a tie for 45th overall. His 75 was three shots better than his second round, shooting a 79-78-75 for a 232 (+16). Senior Miguel Siercke and junior Zach Moore posted identical 76's on Tuesday, with Siercke finishing in a tie for 35th overall. Siercke shot a 73-82-76 for a 231 (+15) while Moore posted a 76-81-76 for his 233 (+17), finishing in a tie for 42nd overall.

Senior Freddy Braun tied Siercke in 35th overall, but shot an 80 on Tuesday to wrap up his tournament. Braun posted a 76-75-80 for a 231 (+15). Sam Clark wrapped up the Wildcats' team on Tuesday with an 80, shooting an 82-80-80 for a 242 (+26) and in 54th overall.

Playing as individuals, both freshmen Matthew Kettleson and Braden McKay shot an 81 on Tuesday, with Kettleson finishing in the higher position of 49th overall. Kettleson shot a 74-81-81 for a 236 (+20) while McKay finishing with an 80-79-81 for a 240 (+24) and in 52nd place.

Barry's Niclas Weiland went wire-to-wire in the tournament, shooting a 67-72-72 for a 211 (-5). His teammate Mike Anderson shot a 70 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for second overall with a 213 (-3), along with Nova Southeastern's Finlay Mason.

The Wildcats wrap up their 2016 fall season next week when they head to Horseshoe, Texas to take part in the GolfWeek Invitational starting on Monday, October 31. The three round, two-day tournament is hosted by St. Edward's on the Slick Rock Golf Course in the Horseshow Bay Resort.
