Head Coach Harry Jennings Announces 2017 Spring Schedule for Wilmington Golf

NEWARK, Del. - - A year removed from its greatest run at the NCAA Division II National Championships, the Wilmington University golf team will return to action with its spring season in search of a return trip to the quarterfinals in Kissimmee, Florida.

The Wildcats finished two-over par (+2) following three rounds of stroke play at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships in Denver, Colorado. The team advanced to its first ever medal match play round as the number eight seed.

The Wildcats will begin its trek back to the postseason starting in March as head coach Harry Jennings has announced the 2017 spring season.

Jennings will take his team to the Goldey-Beacom Spring Invite to star the 2017 campaign, getting out on the course on March 11. The team will travel to Oceanview, Delaware and play on Bear Trap Dunes for the two-day tournament.

An annual return trip to Barry University's tournament is next in order for the Wildcats, as they will play in the Battle at the Shores in Miami Beach, Florida, on April 3 and 4. The tournament will be hosted at the famed Normandy Shores Golf Course.

The Wildcats fly home for the rest of the regular season, playing at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spring Invitational at Rum Pointe Golf Course in Berlin, Maryland on April 10. The team will then head to the 54th Annual Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational at the Indiana Country Club in Indiana, Pennsylvania on April 16 and 17 to round out the regular season.

For the second year in a row, the Wildcats will host the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship at the Back Creek Golf Course. The Wildcats will be fighting for their seventh consecutive CACC Tournament Championship, giving them the conference's automatic qualifier for the Super Regional. The CACC Championships will be held on April 25-26.

This year's NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament will be hosted by the Mountain East Conference and Concord University at the Glad Springs Resort Golf Course in Daniels, West Virginia. The Wildcats will need to be one of the top four teams at the end of the three rounds to earn a trip to the 2017 National Championships. The Super Regionals are set for May 8 to 10.

The NCAA Division II National Championship begins with three rounds of stroke play from May 22-24, with the top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals at the end of the week. This year's national championship is hosted by the Sunshine State Conference and Central Florida Sports Commission at the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.
