Wilmington Golf Defeats Concord as Individuals Shine at The Resort at Glade Springs

DANIELS, W.Va. - - Playing on the grounds where the 2017 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional will be played, the Wilmington University golf team defeated Concord head-to-head, 307 to 337, on Tuesday afternoon at The Resort at Glade Springs.

The team may have defeated Concord but the individuals carried the way for the Wildcats, as junior Zach Moore was the only student-athlete to shoot under par for the day. Moore finished with a 69 (-3) to earn medalist honors by four strokes.

Miguel Siercke led the Wildcats' team with a 73 (+1) and a second place finish while sophomore Ryan Rucinski shot a 76 (+4) for a fifth place finish. Senior Freddy Braun tied for sixth overall with a 78 (+6) while classmate Sam Clark rounded out the Wildcats' team scoring with an 80 (+8).

Freshman Matthew Kettleson shot a 74 (+2) as an individual to finish third overall while junior Joey Russo posted a 75 (+3) to placed fourth overall. Freshman Braden McKay tied Braun for sixth overall with a 78 (+6) while classmate Jack Dixon rounded out the individuals with an 82 (+10) for an 11th place finish.

Junior Troy Miller closed out the Wildcats on the course with an 88 (+16) to finish 13th overall.

Concord posted a 337 (+49) on the day.

The Wildcats are playing to get back to The Resort at Glade Springs for the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament from May 8-10.

The Wildcats return to action on April 3 when they begin the Battle at the Shore hosted by Barry University in Miami Beach, Florida. The two-day, three-round tournament will be played at the Normandy Shores Golf Course.
