Wilmington Golf to Host Another CACC Championship, Play in Highly Competitive Events as Harry Jennings Announces 2017 Fall Schedule

NEWARK, Del. - - With the eighth consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship in their sights, the Wilmington University men's golf team will open its 2017 season with a trip to St. Augustine, Fla., to play in the Jay Jennison Cup, as head coach Harry Jennings announces this year's fall schedule.

With the CACC Tournament now being played in the fall, Jennings has bulked up his fall schedule to better position themselves to make a another deep NCAA Tournament run. 

The season opens at the Jay Jennison Cup hosted by Flagler College who finished last season ranked 20th in the country according to GolfStat.com.

The Wildcats will then once again host the CACC Championships marking the third straight year that Wilmington will host the Tournament. This year's tournament will again be held at Back Creek Golf Course in Middletown, Del., on October 1-2. Following the CACC Championships, the Cats will head off to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., to take part in the GolfRank Invitational hosted by the sixth ranked Sharks of Nova Southeastern University.

The rest of the Wildcats' fall season finds them playing some of the top teams in the country throughout four different tournaments. They head to the Otter Fall Invitational at CSU Monterey Bay in Seaside, Calif., then off to Hawaii to compete against Hawaii at Hilo and Hawaii Pacific University. The 2017 fall schedule concludes with a trip to the famed Golf Week DII Invite hosted by Nova Southeastern University in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Winner of the CACC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional which will be played at the end of 2018 spring season in May.
