Wilmington Golfers Back in Action With First Two Rounds at Jay Jennison Cup

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - - In its first action of the 2018-19 season, the Wilmington University golf team sits in 14th after two rounds at the Ninth Annual Jay Jennison Cup at the World Golf Village Slammer & Squire Course hosted by Flagler College on Monday afternoon.

The Wildcats posted a first round score of 301 before coming back in the afternoon with a 310 to finish the day with a 611 (+35).

Junior Braden McKay leads the Wildcats with a 149 (+5), shooting a first round 73 and finishing the day with a 76 to sit in a tie for 38th overall.

Junior Jack Dixon is in a tie for 48th overall after two rounds of play, shooting a 151 (+7). He tied McKay with a 73 in the first round before following with a 78 in the second round.

Senior Ryan Rucinski, Junior Matthew Kettleson, and newcomer Arvy Shongwe are all tied in 77th place after two rounds, each shooting a 159 (+15) through two rounds. Kettleson has a 77 in the first round, but came back with an 82 in the afternoon. Rucinski posted a 78 in the first round before shooting an 81 in the nightcap. Shongwe had the best second round for the Wildcats with a 75, but was hindered by an 84 in his first round as a Wildcat.

Barry leads the tournament with rounds of 282-272 for a 554 (-22). Young Harris College is in second with a 576 (E). Barry's Jorge Garcia leads the field with a 136 (-8), shooting rounds of back-to-back 68's to lead the pack by three strokes.

The Wildcats will begin teeing off in the third round on Tuesday on the 10th tee at 8:27 a.m. The Wildcats will be paired with North Georgia and Mount Olive to round out the Jay Jennison Cup.
