Tyler Cleaves and Matthew Pulgini Earn All-CACC Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A pair of Wilmington University golfers earned a spot on the 2021-22 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference Team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

As decided by the GolfStat.com rankings, the Top 10 individuals in the CACC were named All-Conference. The Wildcats' Tyler Cleaves and Matthew Pulgini, who have led the Wildcats all season long, were two of the ten named All-CACC.

Sophomore Tyler Cleaves (Kaukauna, Wisc./Kaukauna) is named All-CACC for the first time in his career after being named to the All-Tournament Team two times. In 24 rounds this academic year, he has an average round score of 74.83 with an adjusted score of +3.63 versus par. The Griffin Invitational was his best showing this year, finishing second overall with rounds of 70-70-73 for a 213 (-3). He finished tied for fourth in both the CACC Championship in the fall and the Hargett Memorial Invitational this spring. His lowest round of the season came at the Vulcan Invitational, shooting a second round 67.

Sophomore Matthew Pulgini (Wilmington, Del./Appoquinimink) is named All-CACC in his first season as a Wildcat. According to the GolfStat Rank, Pulgini is eighth in the East Region. In 24 rounds this season, Pulgini is carrying a 74.21 average round score with an adjusted score of +3.01 versus par. His low round of the year was a 68, shooting two-under par in the second round of the Miami Intercollegiate where he finished tied for 10th overall. He finished a season best second at the CACC Tournament, shooting rounds of 72-72 for a 144 (+2) to earn All-Tournament. He also finished tied for seventh at the Griffin Invitational in the fall, shooting rounds of 73-73-75 for a 221 (+5).

Post's rookie Ethan Phillips was named the CACC Golfer and Rookie of the Year while his coach Steve Sokol was named the CACC Coach of the Year. USciences was voted the Team Sportsmanship Award to round out the Major Awards.

The Wildcats are preparing for the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament which will take place from May 5-7 at the Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, New York.
