Wildcats Shoot Fourth Lowest Round of the Day, Move Up to 16th at Super Regionals With a 297

VICTOR, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University golf team bounced back in the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional, shooting the fourth best round of the day with a 297 to move into a tie for 16th overall at the Ravenwood Golf Club.

Through two rounds, the Wildcats have a team score of 608, shooting rounds of 311-297. They moved up three spots with Friday's round and into a tie for 16th place overall with Mercyhurst.

Pablo Quintero (Bogota, Colombia/West River Academy) paced the Wildcats on Friday, improving his day-to-day score by eight strokes with a 73 (+1) in round two. He is in a tie for 63rd overall with a score of 154 (+10). On Friday, he started the day with a birdie on one but dropped to two-over after five holes. He birdied the par-four seventh but bogeyed the ninth to make the turn at two-over. He started the back strong, sinking a birdie on the par-four 10th before getting back to even-par with a birdie on the par-four 16th. A bogey on the par-three 17th finished his scoring with a 73 (+1).

Tyler Cleaves (Kaukauna, Wisc./Kaukauna) improved by four strokes on Friday, shooting a 74 (+2) in the second round. He is in a tie for 55th overall with scores of 78-74 for a 152 (+8). He birdied the par-four second and bogeyed the par-four fifth to make the turn at even par. Bogeys on holes 10 and 17 had him finish at 74 (+2). Cleaves collected 14 pars in the second round.

Ali Ladak (Richmond, B.C./Hugh Boyd Secondary) and Matthew Pulgini (Wilmington, Del./Appoquinimink) shot identical scores of 75 (+3) on Friday.

Ali Ladak leads the team with a 148 (+4) after two rounds and is in a tie for 20th overall after round of 73-75. He birdied the par-four third for his only birdie of the afternoon. He bogeyed four holes the rest of the way and collected 13 pars in his second round.

Matthew Pulgini improved by five strokes and moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard with his 75. He is in 74th overall with rounds of 80-75 for a 155 (+11). On Friday, he birdied the par-four seventh to get back to even, but three bogeys on the back nine settled his round at 75 (+3). He also had 13 pars on Friday.

Jan Lekes (Moravany, Czech Republic/Videnska) is in a tie for 98th overall with rounds of 80-80 for a 160 (+16). He had a par in each of his first four holes and nine of his first 10 holes altogether. But he went seven over in the final eight holes to close out his round with an 80 (+8).

St. Thomas Aquinas (586, +10) continues to lead the tournament after shooting a 300 on Friday, four strokes ahead of Southern New Hampshire (590, +14).

St. Thomas Aquinas Nolan Skaggs moved into first with rounds of 70-72 for a 142 (-2). Davis & Elkins Jordan Hyland moved up 17 spots into a tie for second with two others at 143 (-1), shooting a 70 on Friday.

The Wildcats tee off the third and final round on Saturday starting at 8:20 a.m.
