Wilmington Golf Closes Season with Third Round 300 at Super Regionals; Tied for 14th Overall

VICTOR, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University golf team concluded its 2021-2022 season with a 300 in the final round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament on Saturday, finishing in a tie for 14th overall after three rounds at the Ravenwood Golf Club.

The Wildcats posted rounds of 311-297-300 for a 908 (+44), moving up two spots to a tie for 14th overall.

The Wildcats were led by Tyler Cleaves' 74 (+2) on Saturday, moving up 13 spots to complete his season in a tie for 42nd overall. He posted rounds of 78-74-74 for a 226 (+10). He finished in a tie for 10th overall on the Par 3 Scoring for the tournament, shooting two-over par in the three rounds. On Saturday, he birdied the par-four seventh to get back to even but made the turn at one-over par. A birdie on the par-five 12th brought Cleaves back to one-over, but he bogeyed the par-five 18th to finish his round at 74 (+2).

Both Matthew Pulgini and Pablo Quintero shot third rounds of 75 (+3) on Saturday. Pablo Quintero moved up five spots into a tie for 58th overall, finishing with a three-day total of 229 (+13) with rounds of 81-73-75. He birdied the par-three eighth and the par-five 12th on Saturday.

Matthew Pulgini moved up 13 spots into a tie for 61st overall with his third round, shooting scores of 80-75-75 for a 230 (+14). He had three birdies on the afternoon, getting his first on the par-four third before adding birdies on the par-three 14th and closing out his season with a birdie on the par-five 18th.

Jan Lekes closed out the scoring for the Wildcats on Saturday, shooting a personal tournament best 76 (+4) in the third round. He moved up nine spots into a tie for 89th overall with rounds of 80-80-76 for a 236 (+20). He was six-over after five holes on Saturday but fought back with birdies on the par-four seventh and par-five ninth to make the turn at four-over. He was again six-over after 11 but sank birdies on the par-three 14th and par-three 17th to shoot even par on the back nine and finish at 76 (+4). His four birdies in the round were a team high.

Ali Ladak closed out the Wildcats on the course with an 83 (+9) on Saturday, finishing the tournament in a tie for 69th overall. He shot rounds of 73-75-83 for a 231 (+15).

St. Thomas Aquinas hung onto the lead to win the tournament with an 881 (+17). The top four teams advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament, including Charleston (883), Gannon (887), and Davis & Elkins (887).

Davis & Elkins' Jordan Hyland shot a third round 70 (-2) to take over the lead and win individual medalist at the Super Regional. He posted rounds of 73-70-70 for a 213 (-3).
