Wildcats Lead with Four Golfers on 2021-22 CACC Men’s Golf All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University golf team placed four student-athletes on the 2021-22 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf All-Academic Team, tying for the most among the eight teams with honorees.

In total, 17 student-athletes from the CACC were named to the golf All-Academic Team, with the Wildcats tying Chestnut Hill for the most with four honorees.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.

The Wildcats were led by a pair of two-time honorees in junior Nathan Potts and sophomore Ali Ladak. Sophomores Matthew Pulgini and Jan Lekes also earned their way onto the All-Academic Team for the first time this spring.

Reigning CACC Champion Wilmington University and Chestnut Hill College were tied for tops with four honorees apiece. Jan Lekes had a team-best 4.0 cumulative grade point average for WilmU, while CHC was led by Conor Regan's mark of 3.70.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Three of the honorees earned GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • Nine of the honorees made the CACC Men's Golf All-Academic Team for the second time.
  • Felician's Gonzalo Maldonado Felices made the All-Academic squad for the third time.
