Tyler Cleaved and Matthew Pulgini Named CACC Golfers of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Finishing in a tie for fifth overall at the Penmen Fall Invitational had led to the Wilmington University golf duo of Tyler Cleaves and Matthew Pulgini to both being named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golfers of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Matthew Pulgini and Tyler Cleaves each finished with scores of 146 (+2), finishing in a tie for fifth place overall. Pulgini reached his 146 by identical scores of 73-73 while Cleaves had a team low 71 in the first round and finished with a 75 for his 146 (+2).

Matthew Pulgini led all Wildcats with seven birdies in the two rounds while Cleaves was right behind him with six for the tournament. Cleaves tied for the most pars on the team, totaling 23 which was 12th most in the Tournament.

Pulgini was only one of seven student-athletes to finish even or below par on all the par four holes for the tournament, finishing at even par. Cleaves led the team on all the par five holes, however, shooting two-under par while Pulgini was at one-under.

The duo was also tied with Post's Jace Carlisle who completed the Tri-Golfers of the Week for the CACC. Felician's Pablo Hidalgo was named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

This was the final tune-up prior to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, as the Wildcats looks to defend their crown beginning on Monday, October 3. The Championship will be held at Watertown Golf Club in Watertown, Connecticut.
