PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University men's basketball team scored the first 12 points of the second half but Holy Family responded for an 83-55 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division victory on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.

A barrage of three-pointers allowed the Tigers (14-4, 8-1 CACC), which received 25 votes in the latest D2SIDA Men's Basketball Division II National Poll, to jump out to a 41-24 halftime lead. Holy Family hit seven three-pointers in the first half while the Wildcats (5-12, 1-8 CACC) shot 25 percent from the floor including 0-10 from deep in the first 20 minutes.

The beginning of the second half was a different story for the Wildcats, as the visitors got a stop on the Tigers' first offensive possession, and then rattle off 12 straight points, including a 7-0 personal run by Brian Adkins. Drew Johnson II made a layup and Adkins finished off the hot start to the second half with another three-pointer, bringing the Wildcats all the way back to within 41-36, with 16:16 to play in regulation.

But that would be as close as the Wildcats would get to the Tigers, as the home team responded by scoring 16 of the next 19 points in the game, opening the margin back to 57-39 with 8:05 showing on the game clock.

The Tigers shot 41.8 percent from the floor for the game, including going 10-for-32 from beyond the three-point arc. On the flip side, the Wildcats shot 27.7 percent from the floor, shooting just 4-of-26 from three-point range.

Holy Family scored 11 points off 14 Wilmington turnovers while also putting in 17 points of 14 offensive rebounds. The Wildcats were only able to turn eight Tiger turnovers into seven points while only converting 13 offensive rebounds in five second chance points.

Adkins led the Wildcats with 19 points while adding seven rebounds, shooting 7-of-14 from the floor for the game. Tyaire Ponzo-Meek was the only other Wildcat to score in double figures, adding 12 points and matched a team high with eight rebounds. Paul Medlin scored eight points and added eight rebounds, shooting 6-of-11 from the foul line.

The Wildcats return to action on Monday, as they play their final nonconference game of the year on the road. Wilmington makes the short trip to Lincoln (Pa.) to take on the Lions on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
