Feb 7, 2017

The Wildcats survived a slugfest with Holy Family, 92-90, in CACC South Division action on Tuesday night at the WU Athletics Complex. The Wildcats needed to come up with a stop at the buzzer as Holy Family's game-winning three-pointer was well short. The Wildcats led wire-to-wire but needed to hold on down the stretch despite being ahead by 15 points with 5:20 left in regulation. Wilmington's high scoring duo of Tyaire Ponzo-Meek and Nick Richards out dueled the Tigers' and CACC's two leading scorings Dyllon Hudson-Emory and Randy Bell. Ponzo-Meek finished with 23 points, six rebounds, and six assists while Richards added 20 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Although Bell scored 36 for the Tigers, the CACC's leading scorer Hudson-Emory was held to 15 points. Omari Dill-Pettiford added 15 points for the Wildcats while Masner Beauplan also chipped in with 14 points and three assists. The Wildcats are now 17-7, 12-3 in the CACC and remain in a tie for second place in the South Division. Copyright 2017; Wilmington University. All rights reserved.
