Jermaine Head Named CACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – To open up the 2019 schedule, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has announced a Wilmington University student-athlete as the CACC Player of the Week.

For the second time this season, men's basketball's Jermaine Head was named CACC Player of the Week for his performances against Georgian Court and Nyack last week.

Head averaged 27 points for the Wildcats in two games. He scored 25 points, while grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out seven assists in the men's win over Georgian Court last Wednesday. Head went 12-13 from the free-throw line in the victory. He also recorded a double-double while scoring a game-high 29 points, grabbing 10 rebounds in a tough loss to Nyack on Saturday afternoon. The redshirt junior went 10-20 from the floor and 8-10 from the foul line against the Warriors. He also averaged 9.5 rebounds a contest, while dishing out 5.5 helpers throughout the two games. He finished with a shooting percentage of 42 percent and shot 87 percent from behind the line.

Head is leading the CACC averaging 22 points per game and sits second in the league in steals with 2.8 a game. He also ranks fourth in the conference averaging 4.8 assists per game.

Women's basketball's Nyree Grant and Macy Robinson were named to the Honor Roll after helping the Wildcats go 2-1 last week. Nyree Grant averaged a double-double in the contests after recording 24 points and 10 rebounds against Georgian Court and scored 16 points while grabbing 13 rebounds against Nyack. Grant shot 94 percent from the foul line, going 18-19, and shot 65 percent from the floor. Robinson also averaged 21.3 points throughout the three contests, while making 11 steals, and grabbing 20 rebounds. She finished with 6.7 rebounds a contest, and made 3.7 steals a game for the Wildcats.

Felician's Jay'von Jackson earned Rookie of the Week on the men's side, as Nyack's Carl Balthazar was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
