NEWARK, Del. – A fast start for the Wilmington University men's basketball team led to an 81-59 win over Chestnut Hill in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest at the WU Athletics Complex Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (8-9, 5-3 CACC) shot 43.9 percent from the floor for the night, as they held Chestnut Hill (3-14, 0-8 CACC) to two three-pointers in the contest, shooting just 9.1 percent (2-for-22) for the game.

Despite Chestnut Hill scoring the first two points of the game, the Wildcats got out to a 14-6 lead with 13:16 to play in the first half. Chestnut Hill was able to go on a 7-0 run to bring the game within two points of WilmU's 17-15 lead with 9:30 to play in the half, but Jermaine Head and Thomas Farrior were able to answer for the Wildcats on a made layup from Head and a three-pointer from Farrior to stretch their lead back to 22-15.

The Griffins would get it back to a five-point game at 26-21, but Thomas Farrior would hit a three-pointer and knock down two free throws to give the Wildcats a 10-point lead of 31-21 with just 4:14 left in the half. Jordan Harding would net his third three of the half, before Jermaine Head finished the half on an and-one to lead the Wildcats into the half, 38-25 over the Griffins.

The Wildcats were able to come out in the second half and sustain their 13-point lead, as Jermaine Head and Jordan Harding made back-to-back layups followed by a Thomas Farrior dunk to take a 44-29 lead with 16:43 to play in the game. The Griffins would get Wilmington's lead down to 12, but the Wildcats would continue to answer with a made trey from Jordan Harding and a layup from Head to give the Wildcats an 18-point lead of 65-48 with 6:08 left in regulation.

WilmU would keep their lead around 20 points and finish the game out on an 8-2 run and take the contest, 81-59.

Three Wildcats scored 20 or more points on the night including a game-high from Jermaine Head who scored 26 points and dished out six assists with eight rebounds. Thomas Farrior would score 15 of his 24 points in the second half, falling one rebound away from a double-double.

Freshman Jordan Harding shot 7-12 from the floor and 4-8 from the three to net his season-high of 20 points. Harding secured the double-double, as he grabbed 10 rebounds.

Wilmington is back on the road Saturday, as they travel to Post for a cross-divisional CACC matchup with the Eagles. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
