Bloomfield Pulls Away from Wildcats, 110-95

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – A late run in the final minutes of the first half helped lead Bloomfield over the Wilmington University men's basketball team, 110-95 on Saturday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup at Bloomfield Gym.

Despite the Wildcats (10-14, 7-8 CACC) shooting 48.1 percent from the floor on the afternoon, Bloomfield (15-9, 13-2 CACC) controlled the boards, pulling down 58 rebounds to the Wildcats' 37.

Wilmington got out to a fast start as they took an 8-2 lead within the first two minutes of the game before their final lead of the game of 15-14 with 14:04 to go in the first half was taken over by the Bears. WilmU would tie the Bears' lead at 22 on a Danny Walsh jumper with 10:09 to go, before Bloomfield would knock down two back-to-back threes and a layup to take a 30-22 lead. Thomas Farrior would net the Wildcats' next six points to come within two of Bloomfield's 30-28 lead with 7:21 to play.

The Bears would then take advantage of a 17-5 run to take a 12 point lead of 52-38 with two and a half minutes left to play, before taking a 59-45 lead into the half.

Bloomfield would keep their momentum from the first half into the start of the second half, going on a 15-6 run to take a 74-51 lead just four minutes into the half. A 20-point lead by the Bears would continue through most of the half, before taking their largest lead of the game of 29 with 6:52 to play in regulation. Wilmington would hold the Bears to only nine more points, as they would score 23 points to finish out the game.

Thomas Farrior scored a career-high with 35 points, going 16-24 from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jermaine Head had 27 points while dishing out seven assists. Ed Henderson scored a season-high 13 points as Danny Walsh chipped in with 11. Jordan Harding grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday night when they take on USciences in a CACC South Division matchup at the Complex. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
