Inaugural Season Begins February 27 as Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Christian Zwickert Announces 2018 Schedule

NEWARK, Del. - - Five regular season home games highlight the inaugural season of Wilmington University men's lacrosse in 2018, as head coach Christian Zwickert announces the upcoming schedule.

Fans will have the opportunity to see the first year program in action at the WU Athletics Complex in six games this spring, five of which will count towards the team's overall record.

The Wildcats open their first ever campaign with an exhibition at the WU Athletics Complex against CCBC Essex on Saturday, February 10. Their first official game of the 2018 season will be another home game, with actual competition starting on Tuesday, February 27 against the District of Columbia at 3:00 p.m.

The schedule features a second straight home game at the WU Athletics Complex before the team takes off for a five-game road swing. The Wildcats will take on Assumption on Sunday, March 4 at home before nothing returning for a home game until April.

The five-game road stretch begins with a trip to St. Thomas Aquinas on March 14, followed by a game against the University of Montevallo at the Norfolk Collegiate in Norfolk, Virginia. The will then head to the state of West Virginia to battle Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins on March 27 and 29, respectively.

The month of April features five Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competitions, with the top four teams from the conference advancing to the CACC Tournament hosted by Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J.

The CACC schedule starts with a road game at Post on April 8. The Team then returns home for a pair of CACC contests, first against Georgian Court on April 11, followed by a home bout with Felician (another first year program) on April 14. The Wildcats head to Dominican on April 17 before returning home for their final regular season contest against Chestnut hill on April 21.

The CACC Tournament begins with the semifinal round on Friday, April 27, with the winners advancing the CACC Tournament Championship game on Sunday, April 29 at Georgian Court.
