First Year Program Picked Fifth in First Ever CACC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has announced its inaugural Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll on Monday, and first year program Wilmington earned 12 points for fifth place.

Head coach Christian Zwickert has his first year program primed for 11 regular season games in 2018, starting with the District of Columbia on February 27 at the WU Athletics Complex.

Chestnut Hill tops the inaugural poll, gaining 33 points after collecting three first place votes. Dominican picked up two first place votes to equal 27 points for second while Georgian Court earned 23 points for third place.

Post picked up the final first place vote and 21 points to finish in fourth place while the Wildcats gathered 12 points for fifth place. Fellow first year program Felician rounds out the 2018 CACC Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll with 10 points for sixth place.

Chestnut Hill went 8-5 last season and qualified for the East Coach Conference (ECC) Tournament. Both Chestnut Hill and Dominican participated in the ECC last season.

The goal is to the one of the top four teams in the standings at the end of the regular season, as the 2018 CACC Championship will be staged April 27-29 at the Georgian Court Turf Field in Lakewood, N.J. A champion will be crowned Sunday, April 29.

The Wildcats have two exhibition games before opening at home against UDC on February 27. The opening face-off is set for 3:00 p.m. against the Firebirds.
