BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Wilmington University men's lacrosse team could not stop the hot handed No. 5 LIU Post from scoring as they fell, 23-2, in their final nonconference matchup game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Bethpage Stadium.

No. 5 LIU Post (8-2) got out to a fast start against the Wildcats (5-4), scoring 10 goals in the first quarter of the contest. It wasn't until 2:28 left in the quarter that Austin Wood made a pass to Jake Walsh for the first goal of the game for WilmU on a man-up advantage.

The Pioneers would get their next four goals in the second quarter with six minutes left until the half, and take a 19-1 lead into the break. LIU Post would keep their momentum from the first half into the second, scoring nine more goals total. Dylan McCleaft would net the final goal for the Wildcats and the also the final goal of the game with 1:18 to play in the game.

The Pioneers collected 51 groundballs to the Wildcats' 26, while outshooting them, 44-23 in the contest. The number one face-off man in NCAA DII, Connor Farrell, won all 16 of his face-offs, winning possession back for the Pioneers after goals.  

Jake Walsh's goal would give him his eighth of the season, while Dylan McCleaft's would give him his 32nd on the season. Noah Given made two saves in the net, while freshman Nick Race made eight.

The Wildcats start CACC play when they travel to Georgian Court next Wednesday. Opening faceoff with the Lions is set for 4:00 p.m.
