Third Year Men’s Lacrosse Program Begins 2020 Season at Home on February 19

NEWARK, Del. – With two seasons under its cap, the Wilmington University men's lacrosse team looks to go farther into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament this season, as Head Coach Christian Zwickert announces the 2020 schedule.

For the start of its third season as a program, the men's lacrosse team is scheduled to play six home games throughout the 2020 season. In 2019, the men had a program-best 8-7 overall record while going 3-2 in conference play. The Wildcats clinched their second straight berth to the CACC Tournament, but fell short to No. 2 Georgian Court in the Semifinals.

Following two exhibition contests to get ready for countable games, the Wildcats will have their season and home opener at the WU Athletics Complex on Wednesday, February 19 against Roberts Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m. The men will travel to the University of the District of Columbia on February 22, before ending their opening month on February 29 at Barton College.

To begin March, they will head to Chowan University down in Murfreesboro, North Carolina on the 3rd for a 1:00 p.m. matchup. Starting on March 7, the men will be home for two consecutive games starting with St. Thomas Aquinas, before taking on first time opponent Saint Michael's on Wednesday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. They also play another first time opponent on Saturday, March 21, when they face off against Lake Erie.

WilmU will start CACC play at Post on Saturday, March 28, before coming home to Newark to begin the month of April against Georgian Court on April 1, and Felician on Saturday, April 4. The Wildcats' final regular season home game will be held on Wednesday, April 15 against Chestnut Hill at 4:00 p.m. at the Complex.

The men will finish out the regular season on the road when they take on NCAA Division I Hampton University for their final regular season nonconference game, before finishing up CACC play at Caldwell on Friday, April 24.

The postseason begins on Thursday, April 30, as the Wildcats will look to be one of the top four teams in the standings. The CACC Tournament will once again be held at Georgian Court as part of the CACC Festival with the Championship on Saturday, May 2.
