Haley Downin and Colyn Lyons Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – With all the springs seasons now underway, the Wilmington University softball team and men's lacrosse team were represented as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Softball's Haley Downin was named CACC Pitcher of the Week, as men's lacrosse's Colyn Lyons was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Downin represented the Wildcats inside the circle this past Sunday in her first two collegiate games. She started and delivered four and one third innings without a hit against Western Oregon, before going 7.2 innings, allowing five hits, three runs, two walks, and four strikeouts for a 1.83 ERA. In the second game of the day, she went 1.2 innings, allowing three hits, one run, and one walk against Grand Valley State. The freshman finished with a 2.25 ERA, four strikeouts, while allowing just eight hits.

Colyn Lyons represented men's lacrosse defense with five ground balls, and two caused turnovers against Barton this past week. The graduate student has eight ground balls, three caused turnovers, and one goal throughout three games played.

Women's Basketball's LaShyra Williams, along with men's basketball's Danny Walsh were named to this week's Honor Roll. Williams scored 15 points against Georgian Court, while putting up a season-high 29 points against Goldey-Beacom in her final collegiate game. Walsh combined for 48 points his final two regular season games, putting up 23 points against Georgian Court, while also scoring a season-high 25 points against Goldey-Beacom.
