SUBJECT: Pedro Moreira's Tally in the 81st Minute Secures Wilmington Men's Soccer's Fifth Straight Win with 1-0 Victory at Felician

LYNDHURST, N.J. - - It took over 80 minutes to find the back of the net but the Wilmington University men's soccer team finally solved Felician's goalkeeper, 1-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Thursday night at Lyndhurst Recreation Center.
The Wildcats (5-1, 2-0 CACC) extended their winning streak to five consecutive games with the victory, outshooting the Golden Falcons (0-6, 0-2 CACC), 11-5, but it was the final shot of the night for the visitors that proved to be the game winner.
Senior Pedro Moreira received the ball on the right side from Juan Bernal and his low rocket shot slipped through Golden Falcon netminder Anthony Tsouhnikas into the back of the net 80:40 into the match.
Wilmington outshot Felician, 8-4, in the first half, making Tsouhnikas make four stops in the opening 45 minutes to keep the clean sheet.
Tom Debenham challenged Tsouhnikas first with a header that was saved in the ninth minute before Vito Lima's shot was denied in the 16th minute. Back-to-back shots by Lima in the 19th and 20th minutes were also saved by the Felician goalkeeper, keeping Wilmington off the board in the first half.
Wilmington put three more shots toward the Felicians net in the second half as Moreira put both of his on frame. His first shot of the half was saved in the 78th minute before he came back to beat Tsouhnikas three and a half minutes later.
Felician took more corners, 6-2, throughout the contest, including a final one in the 84th minute when trailing. But all six corners were defended by the Wildcats to ensure their first shutout of the season.
Sophomore Zach Lee came on for the second half but did not need to make a save in 45 minutes to earn the victory; his second of the season.
The Wildcats' crazy stretch of six games in 10 days comes to a conclusion on Saturday on Wilmington's Homecoming Saturday. The men's team caps the soccer doubleheader with a 3 p.m. start at 3 p.m.
